Hi all .
This week I should be getting my z 4 .
I was wondering as this is the most I have paid for a car would it be best to seek and buy a bmw Warranty
The car has only done 25000 but I not sure I can absolutely check everything on the car so if I buy the car is it best to buy a independent bmw Warrenty as the after sales from this garage isn't the best as I read on the Internet .
Cheers for any help .
Greg.

Hi,you don't give much info regarding age, service history. If your car has a full BMW s/h I would go for a BMW warranty ,it's not cheap as the others ,but it has a good reputation .

Hi all .
Sorry the car is 07 plate full service history .
25000 miles .
I'm OK with with checking the normal stuff just not to sure about auto g box and the 3.0 engine .
I do most of my car work ie . Brakes . Calipers discs . Have a srs scanner for air bag etc so I'm learning bit by bit .
Cheers .
Greg.

TBH on a ten your old car the warranty premiums are going to go north. I would out that money in an account each month. You'll be in credit in no time though as you seem to be handy with spanners etc.

Warranty. HTH

Personally, I would steer away from companies like Warranty Direct, as my experience of using them was pretty dire. BMW Modial was OK, and easier to deal with, but still try shortcuts - I had a rear spring break and claimed under warranty, but they would only replace the broken spring not the pair despite the BMW engineer also arguing that they should be replaced in pairs. Ended up paying for the second spring myself.

I now do as many on here do - as mentioned by srhutch - and put the warranty premiums in a rainy day fund.

Cheers for the heads up guys .
As you say I will put the money away and see how I go sounds best idea .

I wouldn't bother. I had my 3.0 for 2 years and not a single problem. Done 4 track days with it in that time also.

You'll always hear a disproportionate number of horror stories due to the nature of not piping up and saying everything's going great. I didn't bother with a warranty, instead opting to maintain myself with a more preventative regime than the schedule.

The only items that might have been covered were:
Oxygen Sensor
VANOS solenoid
CCV (though I replaced before long it failed and did the starter at the same time)

I'm quids in even if I'd paid for the labour.
