Sorry if this has been done before.

Thought it would be an idea to see what warranties people have that may help others when deciding. Claims made. Claims turned down. Premiums paid etc.
Is the BMW/Mondial the one to go for are there better alternatives?, etc.

I'll start it off.

I have
Warranty: BMW/Mondial

Level of Cover: Comprehensive (top level of cover)

Premium: £32 month / £100 excess.

Claims: Currently in Stephen James Enfield for SMG problems. Will update when I know what's happening.

Service: Good service from BMW/Mondial so far. Sent a customer service guy out within 3 hours followed up by a recovery vehicle an hour later.
Was kept updated every step of the way by texts and phone calls.
Heard nothing from Stephen James yet. Not even a call to acknowledge they have my car.

I also have BMW/Modial warranty, was only pennies more than Warranty Direct and covers more. Also you don't need to pay up front for repairs and then have the hassle of trying to claim it back.

Had Rear springs, O2 sensor, and thermostat replaced so far.

Cheers for that......would be interested to find out if anyones had the Roof Motor done under BMW/Mondial. Can't find it specifically mentioned in the warranty, but does mention sunroof motor. :D

Have only heard of one person who had a claim refused on the roof, but I can assure you my dealer won't try that on with me if it happens.

I had the following on the X5:

- Warranty Direct - franchise cover, £25 excess, £350 per year.

Claimed for:

Gearbox Sump Gasket seal.

Initially refused as even though the gearbox is covered, the sump is covered it does not specifically mention that the gasket is covered. As I had just received my renewal letter I let them listen to it going through the shredder (quite satisfying actually ...).

They paid up in the end.

Glow Plug Control unit

Covered under warranty, but from the bill of £500, refused to pay £250 of it for the following reasons:

- They don't pay for diagnsosis cost by BMW and BMW will not repair something without you incurring the diagnosis (I had already read the fault code out so knew what it was).
- They don't pay for the access to the component. My inlet manifold had to come off to get to the control unit, they don't pay for that part of the labour as they only pay the labour to actually remove the faulty component and refit it.

All in all, I did not renew again.

Warranty: BMW/Mondial

Level of Cover: Comprehensive (top level of cover)

Premium: £37 month / £0excess. (i think)

Claims: All @ BMW Sunningdale - all approved with only a bit of tooing and froing on the fog lamps, but sorted in the end.

-Roof Straps replaced
-Misted Up Fog Lamps
-Broken Sat Nat Unit

Service: top notch

I had BMW/Mondial on the last Z4, the final one cost 450 with 250 excess as it was over 60,000 when I renewed it. Got the roof motor done when it failed on my wife, only paid the 100 excess then when the policy was new. During the final expensive policy the wiper motor failed again on my wife while I was away, she phoned our local dealer and got the workshop who told her they had a slot and bring it in, she waited to call me first and when she called back got some snot on reception who told her the waranty had expired (which it had not) so she got it done at the local place, it cost 450 fitted for a BMW motor and connectors.
Also have BMW/Mondial on my newer Z4 at the dealers expense.

Cheers Henry1.......nice to know someones had the roof motor done under the BMW motor.
The 60,000 mile cost is interesting. I'm at about 55,500 so hopefully won't hit that by renewal in July. :)

I still have a few weeks of BMW warrantt left and noticed that 'engine ticking/knocking' whilst idling. I have had this problem before and it has been 'fixed' under BMW warranty before. It's going back in tomorrow for some last minute work

I'm guessing the fog lights were done under good will, like my set of 108's

No - under warranty. I got help on here on what to write and BMW could not argue the case.

You got told lies unless the terms have changed since you made the claim and/or you had the basic cover which may have a different T&C. I'm with WD and read their T&C and found no mention of not paying to get access to a part. Also they do pay for diagnostics...

WD said:
4. Investigation costs
You are responsible for giving the repairer permission
to start any exploratory, investigation or dismantling
work and for paying the costs involved if this work
proves that we are not responsible for the fault. We
will only pay any reasonable exploratory, investigation
or dismantling costs if they are part of a valid claim,
providing the diagnostics and the claim has been
authorised with our Claims Department.

I had my roof motor replaced under warranty and the only thing they didn't cover is the seal that goes around the motor, which I was expecting as only the motor and fluids are covered.

My Warranty cost £480 for 13 months cover, no excess and I can take it to BMW.

Bill for the roof was £996 of which I only paid £63 for the seal.

Hi,

Warranty Direct
Franchise BMW Dealer
399.99 Yearly

11 months in, had the classic rear springs problem, both rears snapped at the same time, had to pay up front as a BMW dealer wasnt on their "approved list" ??

Then when I finally got the cheques back, received 2 cheques for each spring and the charged me £50 excess on both springs, currently in dispute with their customer services as to why it was treated as 2 seperate claims...I'll add to this post when I get their decision....

They did state in the original call that they would cover the roof failing...wonder how many excess's they'd take then! :(

Sounds like good stuff from the BMW Mondial warranty on here, have to investigate at renewal time.
