Warped discs issue

I wouldn't mind some of that! How many miles did your discs/car have?

Saying that, it'd be a miracle if I could get mine done under warranty. My discs are pretty thoroughly shot now, after 41k miles including about 7 weekend 'Ring trips, and 4 trackdays...

Yea, but it was worth it.............

12,500 miles, 1 Ring trip, 1 monster drive to Monaco thru Germany and Italy and 3 months parked in the garage when clearly the discs were not dry enough and corroded away nicely.

Andy, we'll need to get a Ring trip later in the summer (due my first baby in 3 weeks!), i fancy trying to follow you and learn a bit more of the circuit.

Ahh - 12,500 with warped discs sounds an acceptable warranty claim! :)

Yeah, I really want to get back, but work is stopping me at the moment. In an ideal world, I'd still like to do 2, maybe 3 trips this year - one maybe end of this or next month, one in July, and one around September - so if any of those months suit, let me know and I'll try and gear myself towards a date! Always good to have an excuse to go :D

I have a similar disk issue, this is the 2nd set of front disks at 29k which my dealer fitted..

was it easy to get them to change them?

good choices.. also about to get a custom ice install and im already on sessantas too :)

Easy enough to get one changed, the other took a bit of bribery. Worth the effort though. I'll post more on my ICE when i getthe car back from the installers. Basically i had the standard rubbish set up and have gone for 2 Genesis subs (located where the little useless cubby things are behind the seats), Genesis spekaers in place of the standard and an Alpine amp located in next to the battery and hidden by the compartment thingy. I've also gone for a device (the name of which escapes me) which displays an Ipod display on the nav screen and allows the Ipod to be controlled via remote. It's a video Ipod so i could also watch movies/music videos etc. I can add a playstation or TV as well but i'm not going to. I just wanted decent Ipod control. It's quite pricey (about £500) but if it does what it says then i'll be a happy camper.

Oooh.. the Vehicle Hub (Pro)? I was looking at these, but could never fully work out what was required and how it interfaced with the standard system when they were first released. It seemed to need the BMW TV Tuner module added on our cars, to supply an AV-In. If it's the same system, i'll be interested to know how they connect it up and how much it costs etc...

Which alpine amp have you gone for ? I've been hovering over the button to buy a PDX-5 for about a week now, £350 from sextons which would probably drive everything and it's tiny (and light).

Andy - i have no clue what Alpine amp, i'm not that into ICE I just wanted something better than the standard set-up that also looked neat and tidy when installed. We copied the amp location from another post a while back where someone had posted pics of their install, can't remember who it was. Sorry to be useless in this one!

Just a wee picture to show you all the fruits of my moaning at BMW! New discs (cheers BMW), EBC Red Stuff pads and brand new Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. Bring on the summer! Whoop Whoop !

I know, it's getting a £200 mega pro valet in a couple of weeks time once i've got back from London. The paint quality sucks considering the value of the car.
