WANTED Silver Grey Facelift...

Hi all,

Looking for a silver grey z4 facelift (2006 onwards)

Engine preference is 2.0 or 2.5 but would also consider 3.0

Must have the sports seats, and be heated :)

Would rather the m sport version with the mv2 wheels (think that's what they are called)

If anyone has a car matching these requirements let me know! I'm looking to buy ASAP, based in manchester but happy to travel

Cheers!

Hi and welcome :D

You may find some of these have 108 split rims which were a factory option. IMO these are better than the MV2's although corrosion can be an issue.

There are two versions of the 2.5, the 2.5i and 2.5si with 175 (from memory) and 218bhp respectively.

Thanks for the info! I did not know the si had such a big jump in power! Head is telling me to go for the economy of the 2.0 but heart would prefer a 3.0 ;)

Life is for living, get the 3.0 if you at all can.

I may well do just that. Seems like they achieve over 30mpg so not too bad at all!

This one is tempting, top end of my budget though:

3.0 is very economical for what it is. More so than the 2.5si I'd say - which I have.

What sort of money are you looking to spend?

What do you get out of yours?

I used to get 32-34, and if trying hard would drop to 27-28. (2.5si)

Hoping to spend 5-8k but would stretch further for the right car.

Yours looks exactly the spec I'm looking for - lovely car.

P5YNY, Hi, have you considered my 3.0 Si Sport ? Priced to sell, I'm getting a jeep.

Hi, I've got a 3.0si & on a steady motorway run it can do this

Daily commuting on A & B roads brings low/mid thirties. This will obviously plummet if you boot it about but they can be very economic for what they are.

Thats quite exceptional for the performance on offer. I've had big diesel saloons in the past (S320 etc) that have struggled to get 25mpg with my commute!

In your shoes I'd find the right car with any wheels, and swap them out if necessary. Loads of good used wheels around and they're very easy to change of course; the used ones you take off have value, so cost to change wheels may be modest. Forum Member Mr Wilks is a supplier of wheels...

On my route to work it's a steady 25-26... It doesn't really go further than that at the moment to see any better mpg. I'm guessing 30-32 would be achievable on a longer run.

That is on the low side - about my average over two years of mixed driving.

This is after 90 miles at a steady 80 leptons in mine:

Full tank of fuel, passenger, bags in the boot etc. 40mpg+ is definitely possible, but I agree with you that the 3.0si seems to be slightly more frugal in real-world terms. Maybe because the additional torque lets you cruise slightly more often in 6th.

The 2.5si is a great choice. You can put a lot into driving it without hitting illegal speeds in a silly amount of time.

The extra capacity of the 3litre comes from increasing the stroke & not increasing the bore, this would be better for torque/Economy as opposed to high rpm benefits. The longer stroke increases the piston speed limiting peak rpm but makes it a more efficient engine.

Hi P5YNY.

I've just put my Z4 up for sale and I think it's exactly what you're looking for...
