Wanted - Prefacelift Xenon Headlight (Driver's Side)

Have you tried replacing the sensor on the wishbone first dude? OEM Xenons are expensive!!!!

Bing, can you change many individual parts in the light unit? I've thought it might be as simple as an actuator not working to 'push' the light up & down, I'm guessing this is a basic explanation of what the stepper motor is? I'll have a look into it though.
I was hoping it could have also just been a fuse but it doesn't appear to be
Paul S, yeh they should automatically move up & down when switched on & automatically set themselves at the correct level. If neither of them do then you may be in a slightly better position than I am as there is a relatively cheap sensor unit attached to the wishbone (one sensor on the front & one on the rear) which may be the culprit. If the sensor(s) go then they will affect both lights, unfortunately only one of mine isn't working which means it's likely to be something in the actual headlight

Yep, when I had issues with my lights not levelling - just shaking about for a 30 secs before lighting up the road for 5m - they thought it could be the stepper motors which move them up and down to level them. In my case both lights were doing this, so unlikely that they would both fail at once... Turned out - we think - to be the intravee I have fitted sending signals through the LCM that it didn't understand, as I have the sidelights set as DRLs on the software. Turned the function off, reset everything and they worked fine, though I couldn't use the function. Of course I updated the software, tried it again, and now they are misbehaving again...
If you have an intravee fitted it is worth switching any lighting functions off (DRLs, one touch indicator blinks etc.), select the radio rather than the intravee on the stereo, switch the car off and leave it for a while. The lights should work okay after that. Reason I say this in your case is because recently one of my lights was adjusting and the other wasn't... And now it's fine again :?
If you don't have an intravee then the stepper motor is one element of the light that is replaceable ; the other is the ballast, but I think that's the igniter rather than anything to do with levelling. Could be wrong though, so someone may correct me. It wouldn't be the levelling sensors on the suspension arms, as that would affect both lights.

The sensors are only cheap in a relative sense - my quote from Sopers 'just in case' was :

I have no quote for a levelling sensor but I'm sure my indie said they were about £90 each. Not sure if they are easily DIY replaced or not. I suspect the bumper would have to come off and the light unit removed to do it.

The best way to tell is if you have an adjuster for headlight height on the lighting control panel next to the control for the dash brightness. That said, I think even my non-xenons moved on start-up...
thanks I think they are xenon's as I have no adjuster on the light switch I have the danger yellow stickers on the slam panel and have the obligatory headlight washers required for xenon's. they show a nice bright bluish colour when on but don't go through the range of movement when I switch them on .its going in to the indie on Tuesday to have the rear brake pipes changed ill ask him to have a look (due an mot in a couple of weeks so will need fixing)
