I would clarify what you are being told before shelling out? It's a fully electric system so doesn't have a'pump'.
There are lots of possible faults with the system many won't require a complete replacement, what are the symptoms? and fault codes?. Also don't buy a pre-facelift replacement if you do have to get a full column/motor/control unit, make sure you get a later facelift example. They fit the pre-facelift and were upgraded so don't suffer from the sticky steering issues some people get.
