WANTED - Headlamp washer jet (n/s or any?)

MOT next month, and have had these blanked off as was losing screenwash

Seems my n/s doesn’t work, not surprising as the pipeworks behind bumper is completely missing 😂, but doesn’t do anything after removal and test either

Doesn’t seem much difference between both units, though they are different part numbers so let me know what you’ve got (even scrap parts might be useful)

Crazy price new (£100ish for a spring and some plastic) so thought I’d check here first

Thanks

I know that when I did mine I found that all of the parts including the the covers are handed left / right, I don't know if there is any way around it?

cheers Ewazix, don’t know what’d happen if you put a right in a left though - probably the cover wouldn’t align with bumper when clipped on, though by eye the hinged bit it clips onto looks to be orientated same on both washers (???). Wondering if I use my old left jet section (which is removable and seems clean) on a right pump/lower section it might work

Did you have to replace yours?

Hi OP, you might find this thread useful:- https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1828627&i=560

I had a leaking nearside washer jet which drained the reservoir so I couldn't even use the screen washers!

I bought a used pair from "parabolica" and Ross at RBM fitted one to the nearside so no more leaks, although I'm waiting for the new cap I ordered from Sopers.

I asked the specific question on that forum and in view of the answer I got I've now pulled fuse 40 so I won't be losing bits of washer jet or getting streaks up the wings any more.

In the light of that you might not want to bother with yours if it doesn't leak!

If you want to fix yours I still have the driver's side one. The only difference seems to be the orientation of the "D" clip the cap attaches to (but that can be removed and turned 180 degrees) and the direction of the pipe connection. Sitting in the car the passenger side pipe connects from the right and the driver's side from the left, so I'm not sure there would be enough pipe to reach to the other side of the jet. But I also got the 2 hoses for the jets and the T-piece that connects them to the reservoir, minus the pipe from the reservoir to the T-piece so if you want any of those bits PM me.

ETA The bits I have are for a facelift, and I don't know if pre-facelift parts are the same or which your car is!

Had my N/S missing for about a year now! The MOT tester won’t mind if the cover is missing!

(Also used Carly to code out the washer jet) but you could just pull the fuse as above... again tester won’t notice :)

I needed fog lamps and a complete washer so bought a fully fitted but knackered bumper of a forum member for peanuts and swapped the lot over.

Thanks Mr Tidy that’s awesome news. That probably explains the missing pipework then, and it’s been through a few mots like this

Looks like someone connected the driver side direct to reservoir as n/s was leaking like yours
now the drivers side is leaking - so I blanked off at reservoir

Very good news that I don’t have to spend £200+ to replace both only to disconnect them again in a month, though think I might have temp fixed the drivers enough if I needed to get it thru.

Headlamp cleaning devices

The Tester will inspect vehicles first used on or after 1 September 2009 equipped with headlamp washers.

All back together again now, though I did snap a little cover clip on the very last cover :headbang: just enough plastic to drill a hole in broken clip and ziptie to hinged D thingy

Another top tip for anyone reading this, a ziptie tight around nozzle head and another one thru this forming a big loop handle can help with pulling the nozzle back thru bumper which helps locating the unit and with fitting cover

5 min job thru foglight access panel in wheel arch

Thanks again for everyone’s feedback
