Wanted E85 Z4M roadster

Hi all

New to the forum as I’m on the hunt for a Z4M roadster. Based in Edinburgh and struggling to find anything nearby, so may travel to some extent.

Looking for something that has a decent history and doesn’t have mega miles. Reasonably flexible on budget depending on the car.

Please let me know if you know of anything or are looking to sell.

Cheers.

Ps had a Z4 3.0si ever so briefly but after spending some cash bringing it back to life some space cadet crashed into the back of me on the motorway and that was that. Since then always wanted to get back in a Z4, so why not make it an M!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I had a couple of 3.0Sis before I got my M so I can understand the appeal of an M - because why not?

But as you say you may well need to travel based on this thread:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=132950

As it looks like there are only 302 M Roadsters taxed and 223 on SORN.

I found my MC over 100 miles away in Rutland - it was well worth the trip though. :D

Good luck finding one, and don't forget we like to see photos!

I’ve found what looks to be a very clean example (at least from the photos) but it’s done 85k (apparently backed by main dealer history). Any concerns with this sort of mileage?

It’s £17.5k which seems a lot for that mileage.

Views welcome!

Many owners are thinking of crankshaft bearing shells at that mileage, plenty of info on the subject if you use the search function

I appreciate this is the other end of the country but it looks a really nice example.

Thanks. Yes it does. And have been in touch with Ross. The fact it is the other end of the country is what is holding me back, otherwise I would definitely be taking a closer look in person.

There's a nice one owner from new M Coupe in Scotland that I keep looking at on Autotrader. I know you said roadster, but I think it will be a really nice example. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202106183958147

Its miles away from me, however, and I can't be bothered with the travel!

Thanks. That does look like a nice example.

I have an M2 so bit too close to that and it’s the open top driving I’m craving!

Like Rob said bearing shells can be an issue at that sort of mileage. History isn't much of a factor - it's more about how the car has been used, which more than a decade on you can't possibly know!

Here's a link to a post on that topic - you can see in there my shells looked shagged at 78K!

New shells and engine mounts is a four figure bill from a good Indy - like Ross at RBM Hampshire.

Where Service History is a factor is when it last had an Inspection 1 or 2 because that isn't cheap either if valve clearances are out of tolerance and need adjusting with shims - and then other things get spotted, so potentially a similar bill.

Which is fine if the price takes those things into account.

Ours will be up for sale between now and March. Just need to get an alloy fixed as I kerbed one in the street as I tried to put it back on the drive after cleaning... :x

Just had Insp II at Darren Woods Stockport and given a clean bill of health. Good history going back to new.
Brake calipers refurbed and fresh pads on the rear.

Car has wanted for nothing over my time with her.

Was only meant to have the car 12 months to tick a box but have had her 7 years. She is going in for a front bumper paint on the 10th as some clumsy twat caught her while we were away on a weekend and I have had to claim off their insurance. Its only a 6" mark on the bumper but I want the full bumper refreshing anyway as I am that picky.

Hi all

Giving this a bump and a shout out to anyone thinking of selling their Z4 M roadster as im still holding out for one.

Still clinging to hope of picking one up relatively local to me (Edinburgh) but starting to think a road trip to England will be required to take a look at a few.

Thanks to those who have been in touch so far, there are a couple that I would definitely be keen to see if I do come down.

Morning, ive just read your message and have a Z4MR for sale on the forum, i live in Northumberland so only about 80 miles from you and the A697 is dream road too. My son is discussing the sale with someone from Scotland, I'm pretty sure he said Aberdeen but i could be wrong, was it you? Either way please let me know and we can chat if necessary.
Regards
Steve
