Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I have just purchased a 2005 2.5 SE in Midnight Blue which has the amp missing as it was water damaged and thrown away by previous owner :o

Does anyone have one for sale by any chance?

Thanks

Do the speakers not run off the head unit? could be wrong?

if an amp..maybe worth posting in the correct section to find out what amp it is...and also check ebay

Or you can look into changing your speakers and a proper amp - i am int he process of doing this..as the standard speakers are kak.

Good Luck..

I have the 10 speaker non DSP and yes it does have an additional amp.
Part #1 here is the correct part I believe, give BMW your vin code and they should be able to tell you the exact part number needed.

Try the well known breakers such as Quarry motors, and ebay obviously.

I had to get one of these amps also, it took me ages to find one come up on ebay and paid £105 for it
I think this was my part number 65106929689

Good luck

Thanks guys. I've tried quarry and a lot of breakers who all seem to have ones from the later models.

One helpful guy did say that part number 65129143127 should work which looking online is also a replacement part for mine. Anyone know if this is correct?

I wish i could find one for the £105 mark on ebay but with scarceness of them i think it's quite unlikely.

I'll repost and keep all posted on my progress etc.

Cheers again!

These are the two part numbers

Thanks for that, but i have now discovered that the system is a Top Hi-fi one with DSP!! The previous owner was adamant it wasn't (He didn't actually know what DSP was) but BMW have confirmed it is. Of course BMW won't tell me what the original part number was nor which others will work so can anyone shed some light for me?

With my car being produced in 07/2004 (first registered 03/2005) i think the correct part number is 65.126946727

I am able to acquire 2 amps; one with part no 65.126938189 which may be a bit too old and the other with 65.126925751 which is a bit later.

My question is would any of these work as well as any amps produced after the year of my car's production (2004) be a straight replacement?

Thanks

Pm sk93 or find his thread as he replaced his recently. In the end due to trouble he put in a non BMW amp.

Thanks srhutch, but I'd much prefer to keep it stock if i can. Mechanically i'm good but electronically I don't trust myself. Plus time is scarce for me at the mo with work, house and an E46 project. If either of those available amps fit then i should be ok.

I'll drop him a PM to get thoughts though.

***UPDATE***

So waited around being patient for one to come up online for a reasonable price, then last week one came up on an auction site with no guarantee whether it was working as it was taken from a scrappy. I'm a gambling man and put in a bid and low and behold i won it for.......£26. Even more sceptical about it actually working until it came yesterday and plugged it in. Boom! I have sounds!!!!

Just to clarify; my Z4 is a 2005 and this amp was from a 2003 so was as simple as plug n play. I only mention this as i've read that some people have had to flash the firmware or something....

Anyway, onto the next down the list of problems: 1. stopping the water ingress in the boot, 2. handbrake non-efficiency, 3. bonnet cable and 4. dreaded DSC/handbrake amber lights.... fun times.

Regarding water in the boot, look at the vents behind the bumper cover, these have been known to let water in. Also check your roof drain holes.
