See "OLD NEWBIE" post in newbie section for explanation

Looking for my 4th Zed at a reasonable price. Not looking for a scalp or to be scalped.....just a reasonable haircut. Something in the 4k-5k region with full history. Not so concerned re miles or colour as long as it is not pink, doom blue or green. Manual or auto is ok, must have leather and reasonable spec' i.e. not Poverty Spec. Willing to travel for the right car at the right price.

Cheers

Pete (Petach Method.......((A long story)).......)

It is not known as "Poverty spec", it is known as a "flimper" spec :D

Good luck with the search, with the budget you should find a nice one.

Go for the 3.0 if u can pete.
I was initially looking at 2.5 and 3.0's but it clearly became desirable to get the 3.0 due to the extra torque/oomph and the same fuel economy due to the 6th gear.
Good luck

There is an ex motor trader if I ever heard one. Or been hanging around motor traders for too long! :D

So, you can't have a catflap or bidet, but optrex and inexperienced tyres and a car with colour in it's cheeks will be fine (although that doesn't aply now).

I literally have no idea what you mean in your 2nd paragraph there paul. lol
i'd especially love to hear what ur definition of 'inexperienced tyres' are....

imagines the scene-
replaced left front tyre says to old right front tyre: 'i'm a bit new to this lark, what do i do??'
right rear tyre says: 'just make sure you're pointin in the same direction as righty and we'll all be fine you nob ed'

Motor trade dictionary:

Catflap - sunroof
Bidet - rear wash/wipe
Optrex - front headlamp washers
Worn tyres are described as 'experienced'. Good tyres therefore will be 'inexperienced'.
Colour in it's cheeks meant it was taxed.

Doom blue was mentioned and it is that dark, gloomy blue that devalues the car by at least 150% and ensures they live with the dealer for many months, so along with the phrases 'Scalped' and 'poverty spec' leads me to the inescapable conclusion of Petach's pedegree.

Ho Ho Ho, way off the mark. Ex RAF, also Cop for 30yrs, BBC (Investigations), Banking and Trading Standards. Mind you, I have nicked and imprisoned a few motor traders.......clocking offences. Maybe the trader argot has rubbed off on me?

I had a doom blue 5 series once and when it came time to sell.....well no interest at all. I learned my lesson :(
Poverty spec I picked up from this forum.
Scalping? I picked up from Australia last year. I quite like the expression. :D

You missed your vocation in life then!

I was a motor trader in the late '80's. MG Montego, MG Maestro Turbo, Ford Sierra Cosworth, Alfa 75 Twin Spark, Cavelier SRi, Lotus Carlton, R5 Turbo, Escort XR3i, boy there were some interesting cars around then, not mentioning any supercars!
