Hi all,

I'm relatively new to the forum and have introduced myself on the newbie section and spent endless hour's reading the posts. There are definitely some early signs of addiction! So, it's finally time to take it to the next level and to feed the addiction some more.

Herein begins my search for a Z4 to, as the title suggests, love and cherish!

I could ramble forever but I think it's best for all of us if I get to the important part: what exactly am I looking for?

The basics: 3.0 litre, manual, roadster, with heated seats.

The options: the perfect car would have m sport seats and xenons but I know these are quite rare so will probably have to compromise.

The budget: around the 6k mark. Depending on condition, spec etc it could possibly be stretched but money is relatively tight!

The usual: lowish miles as it would be a daily driver and the miles would rack up quickly! Good service history of course. Well looked after.

The location: I'm currently based in Warwickshire but travel to Manchester a fair bit. I'm not afraid of doing some miles for the right car so please don't hesitate to get in touch!

That's about it I think! Pretty similar to what a few people have been looking for recently. If anyone is selling, please get in touch, or feel free to link some from the usual classified!

Can't wait to own one, and when I do there will of course be pictures!

Welcome to the forum and imminent Z4 ownership :)

Have you seen any you like yet or test driven any! Make sure you check the very useful buying guides completed by the very helpful forum members before you hand your dosh over.

£6k is at the bottom end of the market so low mileage perfect condition and the goodies you mention might be difficult at that price but good luck! It's the best time of year to buy one

Yeah I realise that the budget is at the bottom end but I've seen a couple go on here recently with decent specs for around that kind of money! Also, by low miles I mean anything less than 60 really :)

I've had a look at a couple of local ones, and driven one auto (not that I want an auto)!

This one catches my eye actually, although as I've mentioned earlier, I've seen a few go for a tad cheaper :)

Anyone have any experience of that colour in the flesh, I think I like it from the pictures :P

Ok so phoned up the chap about this one: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201243489605670/sort/default/usedcars/price-to/8000/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/transmission/manual/model/z4/make/bmw/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/postcode/cv326jb/radius/100/page/2?logcode=p

Sounds like its in decent condition apart from the driver side bolster, and the sat nav pop-down/up button gets stuck and sometimes have to press it a few times before it opens.
He says the roof motor hasn't been replaced, nor have the springs, but all seem to be working fine.

Now, the service history is where it gets a little interesting...

  • 13k in October 05
  • 25k in October 06
  • 49k in December 09
  • 56k in October 12

So, it seems to have missed a service between 25k and 49k, and went three years between 2009 and 2012...

Anyone have any thoughts?

It has went 3 year between services - TWICE (06-09 and 09-12)

I can appreciate its done very little miles in between and people arent always clear that servicing should be either when the miles to service indicator gets low OR when two years have elapsed since the last service.

I just walked away from a X3 because it had went 3 years without a service.

If you can find one with proper service history then its worth paying a little extra for.

Hi chaps, went to see the red one today. Looks like a nice car but has a fair ammount of wear on the bolster (down to white), and the nav screen has trouble popping up properly occasionally. That and the seemingly missed service has put me off I think, although at 6400 its a bit of a steal.

Keeping looking but may have a winner...

Its got all the toys I want. The only issue is that he needs to get it MOT'd as it expired in october. That and the tax will run out and had an advisory for brakes a year ago. Also, it could do with a service.

So I think I need to knock the price down slightly to get all that sorted.

Just checked the VIN number on http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/ and it was built on my 16th birthday! :D Must be fate!

Looks good :)

I sold mine back in July for what that's advertised at:

If it feels right and you've done all the research then go for it
