Want to re-wire the DSC and DTC button to steering wheel

What i want to do is connect 2 buttons to the steering wheel where 1 is full traction control on and one is full traction control off. Is there a way to wire this up?

Why? Surely its not something your constantly switcing? I mean you'd either leave it on or off etc for a long period depending on what your doing.

My DSC is usually off below 45mph, but when speeds pick up it goes back on.. no point in spinning off a sliproad.

Does sound a little OTT, and surely mainly only cosmetic / ferrari-esque, but fun!

Button for each though, sounds complicated... who's the electrical guru? Surely just making the push-to-talk button the DSC button or something would be less ambitious.

its because with the wheel alignment, i can push the rear out a bit on the exit of corenrs on the track making me pick up speed a lot quicker. but with the DSC fully on, i can trail brake later into a corner giving me a sharper angle. on my best lap time, i was constantly turning on DSC before a corner and turning it of as i was about to accel out. works a treat but too far to reach on every corner

Without entering deeply into the 'why' debate, let me give a couple of thoughts.

First thing is to get hold of the wiring diagram and identify exactly what the console switch is doing. From memory it's a single push (momentary on switch) for one and then a push and hold for the other function. My guess is it's just grounding a circuit momentarily or for the latter for several seconds. It should therefore be easy enough to extend those wires to the steering wheel and replicate that function.

You would need to identify 2 or 3 unused pins nto the back of the mouting boss and 2/3 out the top to transition from the column to the wheel.
If you don't have paddle shifts on the later post around 2005 the boss has a spare pair of pins top and bottom that you could easliy pick up, else use spare in the main connector block (this need the boss on the bench and a bit of multi meter work....

If you plan on using an existing button for a different function you could likely just swap that cable and connector over and use it through the steering mount. If using new switch then find a way to mount it and use the new wires.

The steering wheel buttons and indeed many of the switch functions simply work by grounding a line so I'd guess the DSC is the same.

OK so I've made all this up off the top of my head, but it's exactly the logic I used to create the paddle shift functionality on my auto box.

Perfectly do-able I'd say, but worth it I'm unsure??
