2000 VW being scrapped I cant believe it..

My old 1988 BMW 635 and my 1992 VW Scirocco are both going strong.. It always seems odd to me cars 10-12 years old are just thrown away ..

Not bad scrap value though.

engine was the main issue, it was burning oil and it was a struggle to get it through last years mot, on top of that it needed brakes all round and exhaust sorting

it could of been salvaged but whats the point, its just a golf

last car i had scrapped he said he wouldnt charge me to take it away................. how luck was i :x

still it was only a golf

At the risk of being flamed, I'd buy a Golf over a 3 series everyday of the week!
Ditto...we have a new golf and it's the best everyday car we have ever had.....and I have had everything !! :D

I'm surprised at when cars are purchased as so called 'scrap', what the break-up value is!

£200 seems a good investment when you are charging £70 for a door

if i had the space and time then yet it would be worth trying to break and sell the bits, but i honestly couldn't be bothered with the hassle

I know what you mean about this. In 2006 my first car (94 Nissan Micra 1.0) failed its first MOT (Welding required). At the time without any knowledge of welding, cars etc, the MOT place told us the welding would cost more than the car.

So we decided to sell it, I put it on an ebay auction and got £205 for it. The chap came all the way from east london, drove it back with no tax or test (on his head be it).

To this day the car is still alive and being used!

Yeah, the guy probably never got the welding done and is still driving it around no tax or test!
