Vredestein tyres

Took the plunge after reading the Evo tyre review last month. Goodyear do not yet produce the new asym F1 in the sizes I want so I tried the Vredestein's. (Unusual sizes judging by extensive forum research. I have original lightweight CSL wheels so 19 inch tyres required. I used several online tyre/wheel size calculators and wanted to match the radius of OE wheels/tyres as closely as possible but did not want 275 rears. Final result 245/35 and 255/35 both of which very close to OE in radius terms.)

Pros -

Cheap £640 all in.
Fantastic in the wet according to Evo.
DEEP tread!
Fantastic transition between sideways and straight ahead.
Quiet.
Different.

Cons -

Not a big label.

So far so good.

8/10

Nice one... I put Goodyear GSD3's all round about 6 months ago. I got a screw in the side wall a week ago and needed a replacement. I was looking at Vredsteins but I just managed to get what seems like the last GSD3 in the country so they match... I'm a bit worried what to do if it happens again... hopefully I'll be ok 'til they wear out.

Let us know how you get on after a week or so when they are fully worn in. Where did you get them from, and what is availability like?

I just bought two rear F1 GSD3's last night on ebay. A store has 8 left, I looked for a long time with other suppliers but these are the only ones I can get. £140 each for a rear.

Quick update.

The rears managed 8000 miles and were completely worn. The fronts still have 6mm of tread left.

Overall I am extremely impressed with the tyres. Only 1 negative to report - and that is that dry braking distances are a little longer than I would hope for. Other than that all good.

Put some new rears on which will give way to a full set of Goodyear Eagle Assyms when they are worn out. The handling balance has changed massively since fitting new rears and retaining the partially worn fronts but I am sure with some abuse things will be back to normal (sideways) soon.

BTW - don't fit aluminium valve caps - mine rusted on in only a week.

Total post hijack here...But is that pic of the 3.0 supercharged z4 yours or just a pic? That would be awesome, would love to hear about that!
