First of all, awesome, awesome tyres. Anyone thinking about the change... stop thinking! Do it!
Now that's over and the doubters are off ordering their tyres - I've got maybe a caveat that will add fuel to the RFT debate. On the drive home today I noticed an odd sound coming from the passenger side, bouncing off of the buildings I was passing. It's a metallicy sound, almost like someone forgot to oil something. With the roof up and windows up I can't hear a thing, although my passenger said he could still hear it. It sounds very much like the sound you get from the brakes when braking - just it's more of a wave rather than a continuous sound. I thought it was the brakes sticking, however they're not warming up unduly and under heavy braking the car pulls up cleanly. There's no vibration, ride is still smooth as ever.
So my thoughts are - it's the new tread pattern and I hadn't noticed it before, or I've got something very minor going wrong that should be fixed before it becomes something major going wrong.
I've made a quick video from my mobile which picks up the sound - just about. You'll hear it when there's something for the sound to bounce off, otherwise it's just normal Z4 noise. Video is here.
