Volvo V60 Polestar

Anyone ever driven one? I sat in one whilst wondering around F-types at a Jag/Volvo shared dealer and was particularly impressed.

I was looking at semi-fast (to very fast) small practical cars with an estate-ish boot and remembered this off-the-wall choice, after deciding a waiting list and 50k pricetag for an RS3 was excessive.

A nice example: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volvo/v60/volvo-v60-polestar-awd/4982281?v=b

I guess they're a bit marmite, but ive always loved fast volvos - BTCC! Whilst the production one isn't quite the 508hp concept S60 monster, its still pretty rapid and subtle, low numbers and fixed spec (no options!) could make it an interesting depreciation curve.

Just not my scene, but from a reliability and investment point probably not bad.

I didn't think Volvos reliability was all that its cracked up to be, I remember looking at Volvo's before going with the Z4 and subsequently the 1 Series and was surprised when trawling some of the Volvo forums the dealers inability to fix irritating problems with put me off going with the brand.

Tim.

Driven one on a test - I used to own a T6 so used to big fast Volvos - thought it was an excellent alternative to the fast Audi/BMW, very well spec'd and good quality on the interior (although I'm not a fan of Alacantra, and wasn't keen on the seat trims). Was surprised at it having an auto box as I would have preferred manual - it was OK, although could do with better responsiveness. The noise under acceleration was pretty nice though!

Impressive piece of kit that can shift 5 people, have hatchback flexibility and hit 62 in the same time as a Z4M...

That example is at my Jag dealers, who I know really well so if you want and extended test in it let me know.

Well, for what i used it for (regular Portsmouth -> Midlands, and Portsmouth -> Falmouth trips) the saab was brilliant, comfortable and fast.

Dad once had an S60 (the first iteration of the T5 one i think) and was probably one of the most comfortable cars i've ever spent lengthy time in (including numerous XJ/XK jags, Lexus, Saab's and a Tesla)

Audis always seem pricey for what they are, and they rarely keep the interior up to date once it's launched.

I'm looking for a bit of a techfest modern cruiser that's fast and fun, with a boot. Big fan of the RS3 despite the negative reviews, just not a fan of the huge price! Even second hand it's a hot hatch at £44k.
