Hi All,

I've put a deposit on the attached Zed, as long at it passes an inspection by a mechanic friend of mine.

I just thought I'd post it on here as it's an unusual colour combination, and therefore it may be a 'known' car on here?

Mileage is a bit higher than I'd like, but it has a full service history, last being an Insp 2 in April, and it still feels very strong!

Feedback good or bad would be greatly appreciated, I'm sure you all know that nervous feeling when you're about to buy a 2nd hand car!

Cheers,

Andy.

Looks lovely - don't know it though I'm afraid.

I can't believe how much money I must've lost on my car in less than 2 years though

Looks nice! Love the colours and the mv2 alloys

Need to lose the oversized GB badge on the rear though

Nice looking car. Spec is good, with New England leather, which was only available on individual spec interiors. Dash looks good too.

It's not a car I'm familiar with.

Don't let the mileage worry you too much. The 6 cylinder motors are good for 200k +. What to look out for is service history and receipts. When I look at a 2nd hand car, a FSH and all receipts for work done gives me comfort that the car has been looked after. Low miles and no receipts is a worry for me.

Based on the mileage, you'll be a while before the next "Inspection 2" service, which usually costs around £300-£600 (ish) at a main dealer.

Hope it checks out mechanically.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it does look very nice. It's a dark silver I've not seen on a Zed before, and it's a nice combo with the seats.

One query I've got is with the lights. I did the VIN check to see the options, and it didn't state Xenons, yet it has the headlight washers. Were Xenons standard on the facelift, or were washers standard regardless of the lights?

There are lots of bills with the paperwork, and also managed to speak to the previous owner, who said it was a very straight car, and would buy it back if circumstances allowed!

Xenons not standard, and I've got headlight washers and no xenons so unless been retrofitted, it doesn't have Xenons by the sounds if it. Good luck with the purchase

Nope, no xenons - there are two adjusters on the light control panel on the right of the steering wheel. One is for the interior / dash lighting brightness, the other is for headlight height adjustment. If it had xenons it would only have the interior adjuster.

Thanks for the clarification.

One, (hopefully!), last question! Can you tell from the pics if the wheels are genuine? (There is one close-up pic)...

Only reason I ask is regarding the centre caps. According to the spec sheet, the wheels should be style 135, which tallies, but the centre caps definitely had stickers on, which I associate more with replicas than genuine ones?

Any thoughts?

PS - Can't believe how excited I am to pick this up! Can't remember being this excited about a car before!

They are the standard wheels for the key so doubt they would be reps. They look like originals to me.

Re the centre caps they are prone to corrosion. Could be the previous owner or more likely the garage have taken the cheapest option to make the look acceptable.

You sure this has FSH? I spoke to an elderly guy (link below) about it with a view to buy but didn't follow it through as it was something like 40k between one of the services.

This is being sold on Pistonheads by a private seller as well.

Have you been and viewed the car?

I live 5 mins from this garage... happy to go and do a walk around it for you if you like?

My only other comment is that 2 years ago I went and looked at a TT these guys were selling, it was a bit scruffier than perhaps they described, however the car looks very tidy in those pictures.

Like I say, happy to venture in for a proper look if that helps you?

I hate garages that due this. Full BMW service history, well the ones that are there. :headbang:

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback.

Not bought the car yet. I have reserved it with a deposit. Collecting it tomorrow as long as a mechanic friend I'm taking gives it the green light.

The ad on PH is old, and from the original seller, who sold the car to We Buy Any Car as he was desperate for a fast sale (this is from the person selling on PH, not the current garage).

The current garage bought it from an auction from WBAC...

Interesting to hear about the service history, will look into it tomorrow...

Funky Monkey, thanks for your kind offer. Not sure if it's too late to take you up on it, as I'll be there late morning tomorrow?

Soooo, bought the car today!

We spent a couple of hours going over the car inside and out, and underneath! A couple of small bits need doing, but nothing unexpected. It was very clean and straight.

Following a decent test drive, it was down to the paperwork. There was no 40k gap in the service history, it was all as it should be, so happy days!

A great cross-country drive home and I still can't wipe the grin off my face! :driving:

She's now tucked safely away in the garage. Happy days!
