Vibration on right hand side exhaust system

Hi everyone,

I have a 2009 35i DCT model..
I have an idle speed vibration under my car which you can hear in the cabin and in the boot when open. If I hold the exhaust pipe or press it with my foot it goes away. And at high revs it disappears as well. I guess the exhaust is vibrating against a heat shield or something similar but I was wondering if anyone else has had anything similar…. TIA

I would whip it into an exhaust place & get them to check over the obvious, might be a dodgy clamp / bit of shielding. Possible leak or exhaust damage / if really unlucky something more major.

Mine has the same I think its just a heat shield vibrating against the exhaust.

there's also the vacuum operated baffle on the right hand side of the car on the 35is which could be your problem (assuming the 2009 is the same as mine)

I have a feeling it’s the heat shield. I’ll get my Indy guy to have a look at it. The flap works perfectly which is impressive after 13 years !
