Vibra technic engine mounts

Hello could some one please tell me how many engine mounts the z4mc has and what does everyone fit when upgrading to the vibra technics mounts is it just the road mounts you fit?

There are two. And Vibra Technics recommends the road mounts and that is what most people install unless you're seriously into tracking your coupe.

No it's just for road use and maybe the odd track day if I have the balls to take it on.

How many mounts is there to replace on the engine and gearbox??

2 engine 2 gearbox.

I'd use the stock bobbin mounts on the transmission they are a good design and are hard to better. That came from VT themselves.

Fwiw I run the competiton spec mounts in my tuned z4m and they are fantastic.

Agree with Beedub , my best mod to date
I have the engine road spec mounts , totally changed the car , handling, braking and transmission love it :D

So you recommend just replacing the two on the engine and leaving the gearbox mounts standard?

Where is the best place to order from?

that was actually VTs advise! and it works perfectly for my car which is putting out a fair few more HP and Tq than stock. i got mine directly from VT themselves but i think demon tweeks sell them too.

VT was investigating creating a completely new transmission mount support bracket/brace. They felt that was the only way to improve the existing transmission mount and that it couldn't be done with just a mount replacement alone. I don't think anything ever came of of the new bracket, though. It may have been cost prohibitive to produce for the small target market.

There are some Z4M owners who report 3rd to 2nd denial on the track under extreme conditions, and they suggest that new transmission mounts resolve this, but they usually have replaced their engine mounts with Vibra Technics, as well. I was on the fence on the transmission mounts given VT's comments, but I did order a set of Rogue Engineering neoprene trans mounts. I'm still undecided if I will install them.

I think it's pretty much universal that people are happy with their Vibra Technics engine mounts. I have a set going in next week. It's a shame they can't be seen once installed. They look fantastic.

i agree they are properly nice pieces of engineering... and on top of that they are totally rebuildable for 30 quid!!

Beedub, have you had to rebuild yours, yet? Does VT sell the replacement parts? It was also good to hear your OEM trans mounts are fine. If they can handle your car, surely they can handle OEM power.

I might have asked this before, but don't remember the answer... do you need to remove any suspension or steering components which would require a re-alignment??

no haven't done it yet but VT sent me a DIY on how to do it... the hardest part is holding the unit as they use a jog to secure it to remove the bolts. VT sells all the pieces and you can even swap and change between the road and competition compounds if you wish. However id expect a decent use out of these.

Still on my stock trans mounts and its really nice, i would say the motor mounts are supporting a good 80% of the engine / tranny weight anyway.

i didn't touch anything steering related. i did however have to remove the big re-inforcement plate under the car which required the bolts to be replaced as they are Torque to yield.

so many benefits that you really wouldnt believe, do alittle search and then get ready to order!! lol!!! they look incredible too!

I have VT engine mounts and RE transmission mounts on my ESS VT2-500 Z4M. This is my favorite combination in terms of both feel and NVH.

I recently replaced my stock engine mounts on my G-Power Z4M with VT's at 119k miles. The transmission mounts are still stock, but I will soon replace with RE like on my ESS car. The difference in engine mounts is huge, like the car went from having 300k miles to better than new. NVH and feel improved significantly. The G-Power setup is known to make the most torque of any Z4M supercharger system, and at 119k miles my original mounts were toast... they weren't doing much of anything for me. The car even puts the power down better, since the engine is no longer rolling around all over the place.

I will use VT's on my 3.0i when I build the engine this summer.

I have no problems changing gears nor vibrations etc. Why would I buy these?

those aren't the reasons why you'd change ;-)

the control the mass of the engine better which translate to a much sharper driving experience.... ever wonder why porsche offer these an engine mount that goes solid in sport mode....

Yep - another vote for VT engine mounts!

One of the best mods I've done on my coupe - transmission mounts are standard.

Dare I say it, changing the engine mounts I *think* might make the clutch delay gadget work better... :poke:

Very good modification
Bought them for better gear change but was amazed by the effect they have on the overall feel and directness of the car.

Quite an easy DIY job to fit them.
