What is the expected outcome from replacing the Vanos seals? I was kind of expecting to feel some sort of difference but I dont really know what I’m looking for.
I’ve not driven the car much more than a cursory whizz around up and down a lane. I guess I’m assuming the lumpy/pulsing acceleration on light throttle might have gone. But anything else? Maybe just a general smoothness to power delivery?
They deffo needed doing, there was zero resistance to the pistons lifting out of the housing, you could get one to move just by inverting the housing. With the new seals in place each piston had a definite resistance to being pushed into place and felt tight and smooth.
In terms of doing tbh much of what I’ve read made it sound difficult, my experience is far from that. Relatively logical simple spannering (yes a LHD thread for the little bolt) but the rest was easy enough.
