Hi all

Asking for those who have experience to cast a view;

Did the Vanos rebuild on my 2004 2.2 M54 at the weekend- definite improvements in areas

However cold start is v lumpy and when warmed up, there feels like a slight misfire or similar on coming down the gears toward a junction etc- I'd argue it wasnt sitting smoothly at idle when hot either

Is this the new seals bedding in or should I look elsewhere?

TIA

Stuart

Not an expert but sounds more like a missfire problem. Oil contamination in a spark plug well from removing the valve cover and gaskets? Do you have a diagnostic tool to read any error codes?

Idling better but still lumpy

Now thrown an EML light so will get codes read and see what it says

Stuart, this does sound similar to mine, albeit mine is an auto so can't feel it 'coming down the gears'.
What was your solution please, while I still have a little hair left!

Mine was because I’d put the oil cap back on skew whiff- not my finest engineering moment

Ah damn! That was enough was it?
Oh well, I guess I need to get the codes read first then.

Did you order a code reader?

Hopefully that will point to the issues
I did indeed.
This has pushed me into doing something I should have done ages ago! Get a bloody reader!!!
