Hi,

had mine keyed tonight :( Was only away from it for 2 hours! Why do people do this??

Wish I hadn't gone out!

Looks like it'll be few hundred quid for respray

:(

That sucks. Sorry to hear about that. I know, I hate that there are people out there who can't respect/honor that a person has something nice and that they have to deface it somehow.

Not exactly the same, but I discovered yesterday that I'd had all four valve caps stolen. Halfords were fresh out of plastic ones, so some little metal ones cost me the grand total of £3.50. Not worth stealing really?

I know the feeling. I was really suprised, angry and upset that my pride and joy was keyed parked up next to Lake Como last week.

Things got worse though - after driving over the Alps, at sustained high speed in Germany and a few laps of the Ring I found my tyre had been slashed. After examining some photos I knew the damage was done at the same time. The cuts were not deep enough to deflate the tyre but peering in to the damage the carcass was visible. Imagine if that tyre had blown over the Alps, on the Autobahn or at the Ring. Does not bear thinking about.

I know I never will have the chance, but I would love to get physical revenge on the idiot who did that to my car.

My total repair bill including a new rear tyre will be close to £1000.

Gutted for you.

Ben

Oh - just to add - where in the country are you? I have done some background work in to top quality bodyshops in the Midlands.

here try this...It's my new anti vandal machine

Son of a! Jesus. How could someone do that? It could have killed you as well as others. Even though I am a peaceful man - physically hurting the person who did that sounds okay....

Thanks for the support guys. I'm based South of London but thanks for the offer Ben.

In everyone's experience is keying common ? Being new to sports car ownership It's really disappointing to lose faith in people! I understand more if someone had been upset by you but not for no reason!

If you're prepared to venture north a bit, I have always had quality work done by Hilton Coachworks in Bishop's Stortford. They started out doing TVRs which tend to get crumped fairly often, eventually branching out into running two TVR dealerships and (oddly enough) a Suzuki dealership.

Oddly enough, when I owned a TVR I never needed to take it there. But I've taken plenty of steel-bodied cars to them.

God, I hate to hear this :( . Was having a salad at Ruby Tuesday's this afternoon with ovrkll and his wife, and I was petrified about the car that was parked a meer 2 ft. from my Z  ..it's a shame we have to worry about stuff like this, but it's a reality. Thank God I have my old truck to do errands and stuff in. Lessens the chance but I'm certainly still at risk for that kind of s**t. Sorry.., hope you get things up and looking good soon.

I was at a vendor briefing facility a while back and had to watch someone back in and park WAY too close to my car. The guy running the meeting actually paused everything and had security walk me out to inspect/move my car. I'm sure we'll buy their equipment anyway, but that sure helped sway my opinion.

I had a girlfriend go through two tops on her super beetle due to vandalism. The sad thing was that she destroyed the engine. "it's air cooled, why would I add oil?"

That was my last blonde and that was 26 years ago! My wife knows way more about cars and trucks than any other woman I was with. She was actually going to track her VW until it got totaled. Now she's got an SUV so she'll have to watch me when I finally get around to it.

If you park you car in two parking spots, you a begging to get keyed. Messing with somebody on the way to work, shopping or eating is an invitation for someone to key your car. Parking up front at a bar is a good invitation to get you car keyed from jealous folks. Sometimes I am worried about parking in a handicapped spot, yes I'm legal, because some folks think you shouldn't drive a sports car if you have handicapped parking. Needless to say I'm very choosey about where, when and how I drive my car. My other car gets the hard core use and risk. That's just the way it is when you own something a little special.

SO true. Me and ovrkll and his wife were getting a salad at Ruby Tuesday's on Sunday on the way home from the drive, and I couldn't stop worrying about a car that needed a damn can opener to get between me and them. Ovrkll kept an eye out for me because he had a bird's eye view of the Z's but still..I was a worried hen! Luckily for them, they were very careful
