Valencia Orange Colour Matching

Just wondering if anyone might be able to give me some advice here...

Someone not far from me is breaking a Valencia Orange Z4 and I figured, why not get a few spare panels etc for areas that have stone chips, or maybe a spare boot lid in case I drill holes in mine for a rear wing and then realise it looks stupid... seems easier/cheaper than getting stuff repainted when the time comes, and these parts are going to be hard to find if I ever want to source them in future.

Having never done this before, are the panels likely to be an exact colour match to mine, or might there be a noticeable difference in shade if I was to start switching them over?

I would have thought that if both cars are a similar age and neither has been painted again, then the chances are that the panels would match. IMHO

Might be worth taking yours along and looking at them side by side in the sunshine just to get an idea.

If they are the same age then should be a match

Good advice. There are "variants" in paint colours even though they may have the same manufacturer's paint code. Plus sometimes some panels (ie, bumpers) may be painted in a different plant. So definitely worth comparing the colour match if you can.

They should be as when we have needed scratches etc touched up on our cars the "chips away" man just looks up the colour code and matches the paint exactly

I think it depends on what you find acceptable before needing to blend surrounding panels. Definitely stay way from body shops as they're like hawks with this sort of thing and once they point it out you'll never unsee it :P

I'm currently looking for a wing for my car and I've been thinking the same thing. Like most here though, my theory is that if the car is a similar age then it shouldn't be too noticeable. But there are other factors like mileage and when it's been driven. Mine is a daily and so will likely have more fade than one that's been babied and left in warm garages during winter months.

I definitely think your plan is a good one though. As someone that has a more uncommon colour and going through the pain of looking for a matching panel, I highly recommend you go through with it. If you ever do need a wing or something you can just get the surrounding panels blended anyways :)
