V12 vantage

mates new car turned up at the weekend and just been for a spin in it. I know there are a few AM fans on here so thought i'd share my terrible pics.

Now I get confused by Astons (as they all look the same) I believe it's a V12 vantage. He borrowed one before and I thought it was a DBS until someone corrected me  . It sounds symphonic.... it's the best word I could think of. He had a switch installed to have the exhaust valve permanently open, it really does bark.

Pics are crap as only had my phone to hand. Interior pic is the worst ever, sorry.

I didn't get to drive and to be honest i'm not sure I could. Too much of a leap in performance for me I think. Drove a few of his fast cars and they often scare me silly when i get a bit brave with the loud pedal. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm no stig.

Although, via the passenger seat arse dyno it didn't feel as quick as some other cars that I would have thought would be slower. It did feel very squirmy at the back end and absolutely rock hard suspension as well. Level of luxury inside is fantastic though, lovely leather dash and suede head lining. The noise is on another level.

I'll be the first to say I think the V8 is prettier.

I'd have the V12 though ;)

Gorgeous 8)

Though I've always thought those vents should be body coloured...

The V8 version looks lovely. There was one on the street next to mine when I lived in City Centre Edinburgh. I always found it amazing that it didnt get vandalised.

I'd love to take one for a blast. I was amazed how much of a difference the extra 100hp made when I switched zeds. I can only imagine what a V12 Vantage would do

That's a V12...

I had a V8 Vantage Roadster ( 2008, 4.3, only 700 miles when collected)......and it was one of the worst cars I've owned.

That looks great and sound amazing, but (back then) were built on a budget using Ford and Volvo parts and the numerous faults were described by the dealers as traits and characteristics.

They're slow (relatively), thirsty (relatively) and handle like a barge, with woeful throttle lag (if you have a manual amongst many other 'features').

So bad was mine, I kept it for only 5 months but sold for a profit.....the V12 is supposed to be better but I'd still doubt the build quality is up to scratch.......I'd never own another Aston again!

I doubt he's worried as the longest he's ever kept a car is 18 months. I think this was bought as a "do it now as their won't be anymore" car on 2 counts. 1 it's manual which is becoming rare on cars like this and 2 the V12. We couldn't think of another V12 manual currently in production and the R8 will probably be the last V10. I dare say in some far flung shed in Norway or somewhere there is someone building a super car with multiple cylinders and manual boxes but they don't count.

He'll love it for a while but will soon find loads of flaws. It's how these things go.

I have read pretty much similar regards the 4.3 V8 the 4.7 is meant to be better, I think the Vantage does look gorgeous even now & they do sound the business which is what you thought anyway.

Nice motor. tell your mate i supply the carbon fibre mirrors and carbon fibre rear light inserts for the AM dealerships if he's interested! Also just done a CF V12 engine cover... looks seriously good.

Never owned an Aston myself always thought of them as big slow barges-nice noise and that's it. Those bonnet vents look like something you'd see on a Kit car!

Sorry OP :)

Lovely car. But as a poor bugger, I can only dream. I can't even wrap my head around only owning them for 18 months at a time. The hit on depreciation must be massive. Good on him though for living the dream.

I quite imagine that is my house (or more) sat there.
