USB interface for BMW Head Unit

Just fitted the GROM to my runaround Volvo. Very easy installation, done in under 10mins and does exactly what it should. Plug a USB stick full of mp3's into the lead in the glove box and away you go. Highly recommended.
Shunt,

did you try and see if it works with your Z4MC? will it plug straight into the boot where the CD changer is?

cheers mate

but i understand the intravee II is no longer in production???

Damn.... should have bought one last year, but I put it off.

Tried to buy a dice, but they won't ship down under :x

I'm stuffed now. Don't even have an aux on my 07 z4m.

has anyone installed the connects 2 into a DSP stereo?
They seem like another good USB input option, and apparently you can controll everything from dash/steering wheel buttons.
any comments would be appreciated

Hmm.. few misleading thoughts in this thread..

USB in a 3 Series / E89 is a totally different thing to this - I have a USB port in my 06 Z4MR but it's only to charge with. If you want direct audio in, the Aux-In cable (£20 retrofit) is absolutely as good Sound Quality wise as any USB retrofit in a E85/E86.

that GROM does look good to give MSFW compatibility and ID3, but I think if you were used to an Intravee it would be disappointing - you can't pick a track directly and it's back to using the disk numbers for playlists like the Bmw / Dice.

What does look interesting is that it says you can keep the CD Changer connected, which would suggest you could run both this *and* the Intravee, which would be great.

I rarely change the music on my 120gb Classic which never leaves the car, but to be able to snap in a USB Stick in the glovebox to give me fresh music would be a nice feature.

At the moment for new stuff I just use the Aux In, connect it to my shiny new Sony Ericsson X10 and I'm away :D

FYI too there's several available on ebay at £80.
