Hi All!

4 friends and I are soon embarking on a trip from New York to Miami and the Florida Keys for ~16 days. We already have loads planned, but was just wondering if any of the US members (or indeed well travelled Brits etc!) can highlight me to some hidden gems!!

Our (very) rough itinerary:

New York: 3 nights (Sightseeing, Shopping etc.)
Atlantic City: 1 night (Casino)
Washington DC: 2 nights (Sightseeing)
Charlotte (South Carolina): 1 night
Atlanta: 2 nights (Coca Cola factory, Shooting)
Daytona Beach: 1 night (Beach!)
Orlando: 2 nights (Universal Studios, Kennedy Space Centre)
Miami South Beach: 3 nights (Beach, Sightseeing, Everglades, Maybe Grand Bahama)
Key West (Cruise in 2 Mustangs and a final day of rest): 1 night

If anyone has any great recommendations i would love to hear them! Were all mid-late twenties and love to do anything, including lots of culture and history. Especially welcoming ideas of things to see along the route, especially on the long journey days (DC-Charlotte-Atlanta-Daytona Beach)

Thanks for reading :) Excited!

Sounds like a great trip  Can't wait to see pics and hear how you get on. Sorry i can't offer advice but this is definitely a thread for the roadtrip section, perhaps a moderator can move it across for others to find useful in the future
Look forward to seeing some of the suggestions you get :) although it sounds you have a pretty good idea already, enjoy :driving:

Colonial Williamsburg, VA, is well worth a detour.

When we were in Daytona the beach was full of sand flies, much better to go to the oval for a couple of laps in an Indy car. One day at NASA is a bit tight, but roadtrip rather than sightseeing I guess.

Have a good one.

3 nights sounds quite a lot for NY in my opinion. You can get most of the main things covered in 2.5 days if you use evenings as the place never sleeps!!

Atlantic City: 1 night (Casino)
Washington DC: 2 nights (Sightseeing)
Charlotte (South Carolina): 1 night Say Hi y'all
Atlanta: 2 nights (Coca Cola factory, Shooting) Try the CNN Building just across from the Coca Cola factory also
Daytona Beach: 1 night (Beach!)
Orlando: 2 nights (Universal Studios, Kennedy Space Centre) If out at Kennedy go a little further out North East to a spot at Haul over canal Boat launch (on Google Maps) to watch Manatee. Free.
Shopping in Orlando. Premium outlets top of International drive and Florida Mall just off Orange Blossom trail

Miami South Beach: 3 nights (Beach, Sightseeing, Everglades, Maybe Grand Bahama) Ever glades is a huge expanse of boggy scrub choose a guded tour or trip to get the max and cut down time
Key West (Cruise in 2 Mustangs and a final day of rest): 1 night Great place very 'unique'
