upgrading on board computer

Hey guys,

i have a 2006 z4m coupe. It has the Sat Nav package, but i dont like some parts of how the computer works, i.e the telephone has no ability to move through your address book except via every single entry.

Is there any way to customise the menus/functionality, or is it completely part of hte sat nav? how does the onboard computer work exactly?

Cheers!

It's all accessed the same but the bluetooth is a separate module & un-customizable as a result.

You can get hacked firmwares which alter the nav menus fairly simply, but there's no way to update the ULF (bluetooth) firmware so it's not possible.

Various versions of the ULF exist but with a 2006 MC you have effectively the latest.

so if i read that right, the screen displays the cars firmware which bolts on certain functionality, i.e. the GPS maps, it reads off a cd, the telephone connection it utilises a bluetooth module. were would you go to find a hacked firmware? i'd be interested to see just how much can be tinkered with.

Cheers
