Upgrade compatibility - seats and steering wheel

Hi

I have a facelift 2.0, I want to:

A. Sell the MSport heated seats (in black), but before I advertise them does anyone know if ALL Z4's have the loom to accept them without modification. I seem to recall pre-2004 cars do, but what about cars from 2004 onwards that weren't spec'd for heated leather from the factory?

B. Remove the multi-function steering wheel and fit it to my 2005 Z4; is the loom in the 2005 Z4 already in place for this to be a straight swap or do I have endless 'faffage' to make this fit and work properly?

Thanks in advance.

My January 2004 car has all the connections and I have just had heated seats fitted. I previously owned a 2005 car and this did not. I had to purchase a new harness which BMW no longer make. I was lucky I found one at a BMW dealer in Lithuania. As far as I am aware these are not available anywhere now. I believe that BMW stopped fitting the connections for heated seats towards the end of 2004. If you search the forum there are quite a few threads about fitting heated seats.

Hi, is that your black one just appeared on Ebay?
Looks a nice motor, just a shame it lost those fancy seats.

Edit: I was looking at the seats etc a couple of days back and I'm pretty sure I was quoted around October 2004 for the looms being stopped.

It is mine, but, I've had SO many people contact me about it, asking if I'd leave the seats in that I've given them the option of selling it as-is, i.e. seats in tact. I really wanted the seats, but, it looks as though I'm going to have to faff around in my 2005 Imola to get the loom working that I'm not sure if I can be bothered; it was the heated aspect I wanted rather than the MSport seats.

People that know Z4's will know the seats' value, so they'll realise it's a bit of a bargain if I leave them in, but a lot of people aren't Z4 fanatics and so they probably wouldn't care if it had fabric rather than those seats. Truth me known, I prefer fabric to leather, but I also like heated and heated fabric seats are even rarer than leather!! :D

Wow! I never even realised they did heated fabric ones?

Neither did I until I saw one advertised with them; I had to keep asking the seller if they were sure they were heated, he got quite annoyed. They were heated. :D

Loom that was the word I was looking for in my post Martin. You know how technical I am.
