OK so 've gone through the posts and can't see just what I need to know.

I'm looking to change the steering wheel on my '03 steptronic to one with multi function for bluetooth and ideally paddles as that would be a fun extra.

Currenly I have the standard leather with 3 alloy spokes and no buttons.

I see a couple for sale and will be looking into those, but am interested in which Z and other BMW wheels would be an easy swap.

I'd like to keep the original airbag as sourcing that is a big cost, am not afraid of running a couple of new wires or adding a bit of harness

Suggestions?

Check if here you could find some useful information (for the paddleshift retrofit):

This guy usually has a multifuntion upgrade kit on ebay. I'm sure he can get you one. I plan on doing the upgrade soon.

Thanks Guys

I'll work my way through these links.

This is another of my projects that may not come off for a few months until I get the right personal knowledge base, steering wheel and Bluetooth ULF.

I have to split my attention between 3 women (wife, X and Z) Last months project and attention - now complete - was a retrofit Bluetooth on the X5 and how good is that in use. Now it's the Z's turn again, unless wife catches up with me... :) :)

If you decide to go for the paddleshift retrofit a HOW TO would be very welcome from my side

Yep - I'd do that for sure, because I appreciate the value of using 'how to's' that other have done in some of my projects
