Updating Sat Nav DVD

I have the BMW Navigation System and the DVD that is in at the moment is DVD 06-1 Road Map Europe HIGH.

I've only had the Zed a week and I'm still waiting for the manual to be sent from the main dealer.

I've been having a look around and it seems there are 2009 & 2010 DVD versions now available. Some state the are Road Map Professional and some Road Map High

Will the professional version work on my system ? or do I have to stick with the "High" version ?

Anyone any ideas of a reputable source for these discs ? Genuine ones of course - not pirate copies or such like...

I have found this place http://www.bmwnavi.co.uk/ who supply the discs for 35 quid. Anyone used them ?

I also understand that the firmware can be upgraded on the system to allow for different colour schemes / night schemes etc ?

The one you require is the HIGH one - the professional will not work.

The only reputable source I know of is BMW themselves, although you get them at a 'discount' for handing over your old one.

The dealer you buy your disc off may be willing to help you in upgrading your firmware if you ask nicely - i.e. not "do the effin upgrade or I'm buying the disc of ebay".
 
£99 from the dealer is the only legal source, and also ensures that the system does not lock up which happens a lot with after market versions (read illegal copies).

What year is the car? If yours is a 2006, I think the latest firmware is already on there.
 
It's a 53 plate car.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll give the local dealer a call tomorrow to get a price. I heard somewhere it was about £100 (with old disc in exchange)

Hi, if you have sat nav in your car i can supply you with the latest 2010 map disc + V32 o/s update, new features include speed camera warnings,7 digit postcode input,3D view, night mode and TMC.£30 including postage.
 
Yes. I've been offered exactly the same Chris. I'm a bit apprehensive though in case it locks up the system and buggers it up altogether....

ok so the guiy who offered it to me was on m3 cutters, he sent it a few days back. i just whent back now to send him a message if it would definately work on a z4 but he has vanished??

dont worry hell sell you a good product have been using it for over a year now, no problems
