Updating Navigation

I am sure this thread has been done to death but I can't find a specific answer. I have a 07 Z4M which I assume is running the same software/firmware it left the factory with. No postcode input/2d maps and old maps.

I want to upgrade it so I have newer maps and postcode input. What do I need to do this to map it happen?

Download a v32 firmware update CD image, burn it and use it to upgrade your mk IV nav

Maps - the only official way to obtain updated maps is to purchase them from BMW but a little googling or searching on eBay may reveal alternative sources

And the 'alternative sources' will invariably supply the firmware update already good to go along with the data disc - so I'm told

Thanks Gents. Just to confirm, it is the 'High' version that I need? Is it easy enough to update once I have the discs?

Absolutely. You will get full instructions so I'm told.

I don't need upgrades for 3 years as I am entitled to updates during the warranty period but I had no problem with an earlier 2005 Comand merc now sold. Just inserted 2 discs 1 after the other and job done.

i understand the high map discs are a PITA to get hold of, the latest firmware is easy though.

Obviously legally you're only allowed to have the version you've paid for. As long as you're talking about that then i think it's fair to point out you there is custom firmware, in the same way we mod our cars normally for added features. Haven't personally tested this though.

Where can i tell what my current FW version is?

I've got a 2009 car with 2009 maps disk
