*Update* Another parking ticket - The Result

My partner got a parking ticket for parking on double yellow lines. When she parked she could not see where the double yellow lines ended because of flood water. The photo clearly show a debris line that this was the case.

Also, by chance, her front wheel is just before the double yellow line. Does it really matter that the car body is over hanging?

Getting a ticket for this really makes me wonder. I mean, in future she may as well park on double yellow lines much closer to where she needs to be if she is going to get a ticket anyway.

We sent in an email appealing and got an automated response - it could take up to 36 days due to high volumes etc. About time they considered the quality of traffic wardens and why so many tickets are being dished out!

I'd keep making the appeal and not give up - you have the evidence in the photo - use it with a weather forecast for the day. I'm certain that everyone's initial appeal is sent back. . . . .

The warden would know precisely where the lines are I'm afraid - I'm certain of that.#

:driving:

i appealed a ticket on 6th September and still haven't had a response. Online all it says is 'challenge logged'. I'm not going to chase it, I'm quite happy not paying it while they sit on it! Not that I will pay it though, i tried three different machines in the area, all of which were out of order and then downloaded the app and sorted it on there. Still got a ticket! more intelligent staff needed i think.

Assuming your wife took the above picture, they should have taken pictures of the car parked there when they issued the ticket so you can see whether the line was under water or not?

Even if it was under water / leafs, don't you think that the traffic warden would have used his foot to make a nice clear visible line for his picture?

What exactly was your appeal based on?

I guess the problem with the above picture is that it could have been taken any time, who's to say she didn't move the car then take the pic?

Nothing pisses me more than this petty bureaucracy and how we are now forced to accept it as the norm. Still you've committed the crime of the century and now you must pay the price for daring to have you bodywork overhanging by a foot or so. Pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TBH I cant see the bar at the end, you need a better photo showing the tyre is not on the end to appeal I would think.

The bar is visible just before the front tyre.

Don't think you are allowed to have any part of the car over that bar.

Sorry - looks what it is - car is on double yellow lines :(

Good luck anyway in your appeal - personally I would just pay the fine and put it behind you :D and diplomatically tell your partner not to park where it could be iffy .

Sorry

I just won an appeal in the borough of Kingston Upon Thames, ticket issued early September. There is a large backlog I was told and therefore it took some time to sort out.
From my various appeals and research my gut feeling is that you will lose an appeal as there can be no over hang from any part of the car. So while I agree the end is not visible the rest of the line certainly is. Check to see the council picture first and then make your decision. In my case the parking warden had taken his picture from angles that would not have been visible to me - therefore my appeal was allowed.

At least a council ticket is not too expensive - something about £35 or so? Not like that £100 joke Mrs PVR got in a private car park.

Kind of have to agree with this I'm afraid.

The appeal is based on the fact that the lines were not visible at the time of parking. The weather was terrible and drains blocked.

It is up in Edinburgh, so we can not pop round to check if it is a leaf or the end of the yellow lines.

Bang goes that bottle of Pomerol I promised myself if we have to pay up!

When was that pic taken? Remember that they use a picture for evidence as well, so if that picture is at the same time (which I assume), you might be buggered ....
