Unlock Iphone 3Gs

I've inherited some above board ex works Iphones locked to vodaphone and I'd like to unlock them and pass them on to family members. I've had a browse around the net and there seem to be a number of software solutions on offer .

Does anyone have knowledge of a PC based one that they trust(free if possible).

Just phone Vodafone, they will provide the unlock FOC. You will just need to supply the IMEI, and make sure you can show you are the legit owner! I do this with all my iPhones after 6 months of ownership.

Problem is a friend bought them from me from her work place as a favour and I doubt their IT manager will be arsed to help out.

I'm gonna have a go with Redsnow and see how I go.

Just make sure the recipients understand not to try to update the iOS later
Hacked iPhones will lock back to the carrier when updated that is if they will activate at all .Apple servers recognise the
locked status

Well I think I've jailbroken it using Redsn0w and thought I was getting there with Cydia & Ultrasn0w6.0 to unlocking it but its still not playing ball.

Both my neighbours work in IT and are pretty savvy so I think I'm gonna have to get some help.
