BMW Z4 E89 Emergency Boot Open with Software

To trigger the trunk/boot actuator directly.
Within the app, navigate to Body/SGM-ZGM (Safety & Gateway Module) > Actuation > Central Locking Drive Units > Unlock Tailgate. This allows you to pop the trunk electronically even if the handle switch is broken.

Connect the Scanner and select the BMW-specific software.
Allow the tool to perform a smart scan or manually select your Z4 model to establish communication
Navigate to the Body or Body Control section.
Select Junction Box/JBE (Locate the Junction Box Electronics (JBE) module).
Choose Actuations or Activation to send commands to the car Trunk/Boot Release.
Select the "Trunk Release" or "Tailgate Lock" option to trigger the release mechanism.

Open ProTool app and “Connect”
Scroll down to “junction Box” and select
Now select “Control”
Scroll down to “Unlock Tailgate” and Actuate

- Warning: The trunk may only "pop" slightly. Use the BMW roundel emblem to lift the trunk, not the bottom edge, to avoid it closing on your fingers.
