Unexplained Computer Reset - Help !

Hi everyone... when starting my car last night, I turned the key in the inginiton barrel as normal but the key slipped out of my fingers (I didn't hold the key on ignition III stage for long enough) the the car did not fully start. As I was just about to turn the key once again to start the engine, I noticed that all of the on board computer functions had reset. The average MPG and speed had reset to "--" and the clock reset and displayed "--:--"
Has anyone experienced this before and if so, was it terminal or is it just a glitch ?

Thanks for the tip. I have (well at least think) found the problem. I went to my local Shitner Stealership, errr sorry, I mean Sytner Dealership and after performing open wallet surgery, they found nothing wrong. I now need to test my own theory of what could have caused the error in the first instance and if Im right, it could lead to members saving £££'s as it relates to a completely different issue that has been flagged up several times on the Forum.
