Under-car lighting? Help needed.

I bought a Z4 a few months ago and have only just noticed that it has under-car lighting. I'm not normally a fan of such things, but it looks quite nice at night. The only downside being that I can't seem to get the left/right side ones to work.
I have traced the cables from the front and rear LED's to a terminal marked "front / rear styling lights" in the boot (pic below). Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any wires for the side ones. I tried tracing them but lost them when they went up behind the exhaust heat shield.
Has anyone got similar ones fitted? Or, does anyone have any idea how to get them working?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
James.

Given my expertise in electronics and wiring, it would probably be easier for me to just change my entire personality and become a chav. :driving:

Your car mate, if you like it then keep it on. Lots of people have done mods that aren't to everyone's taste.!!!

For fucks sake people - seriously ??? The OP asked for help and advice, not your opinions on what is on his car - you haven't even seen it.

@Jonny - expected more of you mate, after your own journey on here...

I can't help, but someone like ranski or cj10jeeper have a huge knowledge of Z lights& electrics. Hopefully one of them will pop in

How on earth did you get that thru ?

I thought it might be a benefit of gold stars, but c**t still gets picked up so it must just be a spelling that's not on the list. I'm sure a mod will sort it rapido :D

The markings on the top are a little confusing to what's been connected.

I would have assumed the left and right indicator be your left and right lights. If these are indeed connected to the lights underneath the car, then it's worth testing with a 9v battery to ensure they are still working.

Under car lighting is only illegal if the lights are visible from the side of the car. If the light lights the ground and is reflective only then as far as i know they are not illegal.

get a voltameter and tap into the wires behind where the lights that dont work. As you say they are behind the heatshield they may have melted off.... But of you still get a current there then maybe the bulbs/ led's themselves have failed.

i take it these are not standard? as suggested get a meter over the terminals on the back of each light and see what vltage is there.... alternatively try and trace the wires back from each light to that box. it looks aftermarket so i assume it will have come with all its own wires which may be more easy to track.

Never fitted such a device, but looking a that wiring I'd say the fitter has done a quick and lazy job. Probably just threaded and hung or zip tied along the exterior.

As above have posted best to get the voltmeter on things. Personally I'd start on that unit and see that as each function is selected you get a reading. Then just find the other end of the wire and see if you still get a reading. Once you've worked out if it's control unit, light or wire then the fix is easy enough.

I'd put my money on melted wire as mentioned above given mention of heatshield
