UK Members, want to take part in a pilot with free nav?

My employer (Intel) has bought Telmap, a mobile location based services company. They have a product "M8" which is a free nav software app including:
- Live traffic updates.
- Speed cam alerts.
- Turn-by-turn navigation (automatically reroutes you and announces street names).
- Professional maps with auto updates

The app is available now on all the app stores and it's free. It works with Android, iOS and the Blackberry Touch. Here's a link to the site for those that want to check it out first http://www.m8app.com/

However there is also a closed pilot which will bring local vouchers to participants and provide "gifts" along routes which can be redeemed or saved for later. One pilot participant will also win an Intel powered Motorola Razr-i phone.

If you want to try the app you can download it from http://www.m8app.com, by scanning the QR code, or, simply look for "M8" in iTunes / Google Play.

The app is current, to take part in the pilot requires you to email the serial number to [email protected] and you find it by doing the following:

iPhone
- click the "I" on the top right side
- Than click the "info" tab on the bottom right
- Open the "About"
- 8 digits Serial number is presented

Android
Via the options menu open the about / info (depends on the device)

Sorry this pilot is limited to UK members only, but who better to test nav software than a car forum!

I don't get anything from publicising this, it's just an app I liked the look of at work and I'm helping out the team publicising it. As it's a corporate thing I did check in with Jim before posting :)

Hope you like it  :driving:

Hmmm. Might give this a go - however I will be a pretty useless pilot participant whilst not commuting :D

Do like the idea of speed cam info and traffic updates. Great post Stu

Flimper going to look into this. Driving Newbury to Preston on Friday so that should give the Zed and the software a workout

I might give this a go. I don't use navigation that much but when I do I generally find Google Maps works really well (on my Nexus 4 anyway).

Happy to test a new app though.

Just downloaded this ,map looks very clear and bright but your e-mail link for the pilot isn't working:roll:
The voice themes are hillarious although a little on the pricey side
si-forks is now tapa chatting in HD

Will give it a go and see how it compares to a TomTom next to it on the same route.

Are the maps downloaded as you drive, or can you download them in advance (i.e. in order to not pay European data roaming charges)?

I think it downloads maps up front. I'll be interested to hear how it performs against a tomtom, it has tomtom technology built in :)

Thanks Stuart.

If you're able to stalk us all now, my user ID's very easy to spot

RESTAURANT feature is just what I was looking for

It got me to the swimming pool this evening fine... But it's record of the hotel name is out of date

Seemed fine though. Be interested in how it works to new destinations - the apple maps app on my iPad is driven by TomTom technology and it is shite.

Used it this morning and I really like it, for a free app on my phone it's really nice, made a few mistakes like tell me to turn right when it was just a bend ,apart from that it worked very well. 9 out of 10 so far

Si-forks is tapatalking

failed to work at all last night - downloaded fine, fine the post codes fine, but out on the road it gave me a blank screen

nav man 1 m8 0

it does look good tho so i will keep at it

Just had a mail from telmap. They'll be updating their servers with all the pilot serial numbers on Monday so expect to see vouchers etc starting then.

If you haven't downloaded it or sent the serial number, best plan would be to do so by mid-day Friday.

Don't forget to tell them the operating system too - otherwise you will get an email asking you anyway.
