UK 2003 2.5 Z4 in grey with red leather***faulty roof***

One for someone more handy with the spanners than me !!

Although it has been faultless for the entire time ive owned it it has decided to break as soon as I need to sell !! Its a nice enough car (apart from the water damaged roof motor) with 68,000 on the clock and full service history. Grey with red leather, 18" (epsilod?) alloy wheels, 4 nearly new non run flat tyres and about 3 months tax and mot left.

I havent got the required talents to repair myself at home and begrudge spending a fortune at BMW to have it fixed just so I can sell it on. Does anyone on here more handy with the spanners want a cheap project car ?

More importantly does £4250 sound like a cheap project car or am I expecting more than its worth ? I will get some photos on later today or tomorrow

If you put up some photos, etc to help with the sale it sounds like it could be a bargain for someone

Before you throw in the towel on the roof, what are the symptoms? If it turns out to be minor (roof interlock micro switch) you'll have given it away!

Edit - some people have found motor replacements at an indie for around £700 I think. That sort of money might be worth spending as an aide to sale and you'd probably be able to add that to your suggested sale price
 
Sounds like a good price to me,, obviously more info need... As stuart says a motor replacement from a indi comes in around 600£

Ive been doing some reading up and my roof unlocks and starts to move but then stops.

ref the price - looking on autotrader you can buy a fully functioning 03 plate for about £5500 so I thought £4250 was a fair price for someone to pay having to do the work. You are welcome to pay me more though if you think im ripping myself off :D

how do I attach photos on here ?!? No wonder I cant fix the roof - I cant even use a computer :rofl:

Update to description:

Theres a very small scuff on the front bumper corner (didnt notice till I took the photos) which Ive included in the photos and the rear centre brake light appears to have either been stolen or broken off in the last 12 hours as it was there when I drove it yesterday !!!

Your price seems very reasonable, if you were to get the roof motor replaced you should achieve very close to £5k and it would no doubt sell faster. GLWTS.

- I agree 100% but time is not on my side as I start a new Job in 2 weeks doing upwards of 20,000 miles a year. Not something I want to do in a 2.5 litre straight 6 and cant have the car off the road whilst its done without taking time out of work. My original plan was just to trade it in at a garage but with the roof fault I think they will just try and have my pants down :poke:

If I dont find a buyer in the next few days who wants to do the work then Im going to have to bite the bullet and get it fixed - can anyone reccomend someone in the yorkshire / lincolnshire area to do the work?
