Does anyone out there live within a reasonable drive from Guildford, who has changed run flats to non run flats? I've read all the posts and I'm really keen to have a ride in one to actually feel what the difference is. I haven't had my car that long and the existing tyres look fairly recent. So I'd love to see first hand if it's worth the expense, and to convince the other half!! Thanks.

You don't need to waste time tying to test one. Hundreds of owners have changed and nobody to my knowledge has ever gone back.
Just run yours until they need replacing or bite the bullet swap and eBay the old run flats if they have life in them

My 2007 has original OEM Bridgestone Potenza runflats, with total 20,000 KMs, so they still look like new. I am considering replacing them this year with conventional tyres, and some local club members have recommended Falken Azenis FK453 summer performance. Does anyone on this forum have relevant experience or comments ?

If you're after a mid priced tyre then you probably won't do better than vredstein ultrac vortis.... i ran the falkens on my old mr2 and whilst they are a decent tyre the vredsteins are in a completely different leauge

I've used Falkens and found them to be fine on the road. They do seem to wear appreciably faster than premium tyres however.
I now use GoodYear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2s and they have been excellent in dry and rain and last longer - prices are pretty good as well.
OP - I echo what everyone else has said - just go for the replacement non runflats.

my experience of non run flats was a expensive got got hold of a set of z4m alloys and had them shod in brand new expensive tyres second day had a puncture on the offside rear lovely big hole in the side wall £200+ later get another puncture just sods luck I suppose my latest zed is on run flats with lots of tread on them and although the drive on them is awful i have mixed feelings about changing to non runflats

Treadlife is not a major concern, as the Z does not see a lot of use since it alternates with the Mazda, and the Honda on rainy days, so the miles do not accumulate quickly. I cannot remember the last time I had a puncture; my only near-flats have been from slow rim leaks. I am prepared to take my chances, with a cell phone and a CAA Motor Club card in my pocket. I will do more serious comparisons when the time approaches; I am still a month away from ending hibernation.
I'm just outside of Woking so happy to take you for a spin if you want. But in all honesty you should just go for the non run flats. So many people have made the leap of faith and I'm sure they much prefer the ride. It's so much more comfortable and feels much safer imo. I got rid of my rfts when I bought the car at 19k miles and I'd never get rfts again! I swapped them out for the non rft version of the Potenza and they were great. Great grip and lasted roughly 23k miles on the back.
