Tyres!

Woohooo!! Just picked up a pair of Michelin Pilot Sports 255/40/18 spanking new for £288 on fleabay. Now to find the fronts!

Grrrrrrrrr, just rung them, not having them now as they are actually 8 yrs old!!!! Code is G1. Apprarently they are pre PS1. Too good to be true!

Eeek.. not cool. I wouldn't risk it anyway, for something like tyres get to a good fitter and get driving :driving:

Hello all - I'm very close to giving in and buying some CSLs. To save my wallet such a hit I'm wondering if it's possible to run the standard M wheels on a lower profile? The sidewall at the moment looks ridiculous to my eye with the standard fitting. Any thoughts on this or does this way madness lie?

ive just shod my csl wheels equipt z4m with mich ps2s and my god they are good!!! very very good infact the cars is handling the best it ever has at the mo. im running 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 as per the csl. i understand not everyone wants to pay ps2 prices but if you can stretch to them they are the imo the very best but.............. the vreds were better in the wet, again for my limited use car that usually sees the dry days this isnt an issue for me.

Hmmm, my resistance didn't last long. Just bought some CSLs. I'm thinking Vredestein or Contisport 3s as I drive mine all year so wet performance is a factor...

I've recently gone extreme on tyres (R888) but as an all round package, the PS2's are by far the best tyre. GY F1's have slightly better wet handling, however, in my view only marginally better - let's face it who wants to push to the limits in the wet. For me as an all round package the PS2s would win my pennies. As an alternative, Pirelli P zeros are a V good alternative.

I'd like to know peoples thoughts on this too.

Why is the M such an odd size :?

Would going from 225-45 and 255-40 to 225-40 and 255-35 like the 3.0i has make a considerable difference to safety and handling?

I know it makes a considerable difference to the bloody prices thats for sure!!!!!!

Help! I'm a bit confused which size tyres I should be getting for the CSLs - I'm looking at Vreds with 235/35 and 265/30. Is this the recommended setup for road use with CSLs/MR?

I've seen other posts referring to 245/275 but that sounds absolutely massive :?

These are what I fitted to mine. I didnt want to go wider as it would upset the rolling circumference and you would end up with inaccurate speedo readings.

the orginal csl wheels from the csl were equipt with 235/35 265/30. if its good enough for the csl its more than enough for the the z4m. i think a big reason choose the larger setup is because it offers much better protection for the rim. on the 235/265 setup i can honestly say the car drives a dream, infact just like the stock 18s just more grip and tyre noise.

flatout whats the ///m like for you on 888s? awesome or cak??

888 are great even in the wet (not standing water of course).

In answer to your question, they make the ///M awesome, wouldn't change them for anything else!! I currently run 18's 235 front and 275 rear.

I have had 3 weeks on the vredestein's and I must say I absolutely love them. They look funny but they feel great! :)

I just made the change over to summer tires and purchased a set of Continental ExtremeContact DW's. This is a new tire for the North American Market only. The reviews I read were all positive especially in the areas that concerned me the most. I am not real concerned about loosing control on a dry road so the outstanding wet preformance was a big factor in my decision. I mounted 235/45-18 on the front and 265/40-18 on the rear. I only have 250 miles on them to date but my initial impression is these are as good or better that the now discontinued F1-GSD3's which I found to be an excellent tire.
