Tyres to help stop curbing

Is there a recommended tyre profile/brand that can provide some protection from curb worriers like myself?

Scuffed two CSL reps in the last 6 months or so. :?

Two tyres need replacing and I'm thinking of going from 19 to 18, so now would be a good time to invest.

what widths are your wheels? best protection for curbing wheels is wider tyres - a 245 fits on an 8" wheel, 265 on an 8.5", and 275 on a 9".

if you're thinking of a change of wheels and are concerned with curbing, then just make sure your new wheels are of a moderate width. i ran 245/35/R18 on my front 8" MV1s with no rubbing issues at all.

You should perhaps look for tyres with Rim Protection?
Saves minor scrapes but not if your parking is aggressive.

Have a look at ‘Alloygators’. I have used them on several cars over the years.

Also worth noting that each tyre type has many variation denoted by short codes e.g the Volkswagen OEM Bridgestone S001 have a much bigger flange protection than the standard S001. It’s a bloody minefield!

One harsh one, front parking just after buying the car. One minor scuff 6 months later, rear wheel - no idea how

Annoying because the rear tyres have plenty of tread and I'll now have to buy a set of four to go with the new wheels. Hoping 18's are slightly squishier than the 19's anyway.
