Tyres on CSL wheels

I finally got me some CSL wheels for my Z4 M-Coupe.
I now need to put some rubber on them.

What tyre sizes/make do I need (front & back)?
Who is the cheapest supplier out there?
What can I expect to pay?

Thanks

Cheapest decent tyres probably Goodyear Eagle F1.

The sizes are in a previous thread here recently, something like 235/35 19 and 265/30 19.

I was thinkin the PS2's after having read some of the other messages on this forum.

Is anyone out there doing good deals for a set?

I have been trying to find the best possible price/size/brand match for some CSL wheels I plan on fitting to my Z4 MC.

Using this http://www.alloywheels.com/tyrecalc.asp tyre size calculator, I have discovered that the closest match to OE 18 inch tyres in terms of circumference are 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19. The front is 0.44% smaller and the rear is only 0.01% out. The 245/30/19 are only 0.85% different and I am toying with matchingthese up with 255/35/19.

Has anyone tried these sizes? I am aware the front and rear will be very close width wise but that might suit my driving style and preference!

Any knowledgeable comments welcome.

Michelin recommend 225/40/19 255/35/19 as an alternative to OE sizes on the CSL wheels.

Thanks.

I's agree, PS2's are the dogs bo**ocks... but I went for F1's as they are very grippy and a bit cheaper.

As has been mentioned before, these guys are pretty competitive:

My CSLs are (finally) coming next week. I went with PS2 mainly on the recommendation of a number of M owners. Falken 452s also get some good reviews, and they are much cheaper than the PS2s.

I went for Toyo Proxes TR1's in the end.
I've done about 2000 miles on them now, and I cant recommend them highly enough.
The other advantage is they cost around half the price of the PS2's.

OMFG!!!

Hurrah! Hurrah! :fuelfire:

PS2's are great tires, but it was made a few yrs ago so its been around for awhile and they need to make a PS3 already....but I'm not saying I would pass up a set at a good price.

Other tire manufacturers have been releasing new technology as well, best to keep with the times....

I went with Advan Neovas.... But they are very stiff and the ride will definitely be more compliant with a PS2 or OEM Conti. But with the Neovas on my car, it feels like the M coupe is as it should have been....They are wearing extremely well for such a sticky compound, progressive breakaway....

Whatever you choose it'll definitely be an improvement over the OEMs.

Mike is spot on. 235/35 and 265/30 was the consensus view back in the old Z4um days. I have been running these on PS2s since April and very happy with the setup. This could be a tad conservative, but if you want "no issues" motoring.... :D

I have 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 on mine. I fitted a set of Falken 452's on mine for road use and I have to admit they seem like great tyres. Best part is they cost me £520 for a set of 4!

looks like i'll go for the same size, but i'll get a set of PS2's here for this money :P

Busy day in Spain but still had some feedback from several people in the industry today.

If you want to keep the radius close to the original Z4M then the 235/35 265/30 route is good (better for CSL drivers) but not as good as 245/35/19 and either 255/35,265/35 (note not 30) or 275/30.

So I am going to break the mould and try the best theoretical match to Z4M OE radii, namely 245/35 and 255/35 on 19 inch CSL wheels.I know the width difference front rear is minimal but I want my car to be a little loose at the rear and I worry that even 340BHP will not be enough to easily break traction on 275 wide tyres.

In the meantime I will be running CSL Cup tyres!
