Has anyone tried Mich Pilot Super Sports 225/45/18 on the front with 255/40/18 PS2's on the rear. I've never been a fan of Continentals, particularly as they don't do the Sport 5's in matched sizes.I am aware of 265 PSS's existence but am paranoid about Insurance companies get out clauses.

I can't see how an insurer can have any issue with a slightly wider tyre - otherwise they'd also have an issue with a tyre that is better than the OEM Conti M3. They only tend to worry when you put too low a speed/load rated tyre on.

If you can't wait, then give the insurance company a call to see what they say. It's the only way you'll know for sure.

If you can wait a few weeks, then the 255/40r18 PSS will be available (according to Michelin's website).

However, I wouldn't have a problem putting mixed front/rear sets of any of the new breed of big name tyres - e.g. PSS, SportContact 5, Eagle F1A-2.
 
Thanks. Paranoia caused by Mor>than refusing to give a written definition of 'performance' . No doubt a slick polish could turn out to be performance enhancing in the event of a claim!
 
I've got Mich Super Sports on all feet - 225s on front & 265s on the back. I unfortunately had cause to claim on my insurance in June and it never came up - nor would I ever imagine it would do. Just go for it.

Would these be OK if car lowered an inch? Any reason for not putting 235's on the front?
