Tyre won't inflate?

My tyre pressure warning light has come on so I popped up to the garage to top up the air. However, when I put the air gun on the back left wheel nothing happens, it doesn't even show a reading on the machine. All the other wheels accept air and show a reading on the machine, but this tyre does nothing.

Any ideas, a broken tyre valve maybe?

Cheers

The tire isn't taking any air at all?
Is it a runflat tire? If it's a runflat it is possible for it to have zero air in it.
Can you feel any air escaping around the tire valve as you try to add air?

The term 'but this tyre nothing happens' is rather ambiguous. What do you mean. No air comes out the airline when connected, the tyre valve won't allow air in, it leaks out??

So I'd want to know if the tyre was at zero psi or the valve faulty, or is already at the correct pressure.

If you are using one of the garage forecourt digital airlines (where you type in the desired pressure) if the tyre has no or little air it may not get a reading and start inflating and if to pressure it won't add more air

If at zero then you must have a puncture or leak in the first place and that needs a garage fix ASAP

If it's got pressure can you press the centre of the valve and allow air to escape? If so check its pressure with a gauge and try another airline. If that does not work you can fit another valve core by unscrewing the old after you let the air partly out.

Thanks fro the replies.

I literally mean nothing happens. When I attach the air gun to the valve there is no sound, nothing appears on the digital read out and no air is released from the gun.

Normally when you attach the gun you get a quick hissing sound then the machine starts pumping air into the tyre. With this faulty wheel you press the gun onto the valve nothing happens, it's as if the tyre valve isn't opening.

I'll take it to a tyre garage and get it checked.

Cheers guys

p.s, on another note can you tell me how much I should expect to pay for a Cat 1 service?

Had a similar problem on another car - the tyre wall wasn't sealed to the rim - broken bead - cost me a new tyre!

Looks like just a puncture. I went back to the Air Machine at the garage and pressed the button for when you have flat tyre. It started to put air in, then I got a reading of 5 psi and I proceeded to fill with air normally. This morning unsuprisingly it has gone down again so off to the tyre shop for me!

Any idea of cost of a 17inch run flat?

Cheers

Glad you found it. I had that at the top of the list if you were using a forecourt digital airline.

Find out where the puncture is as some are repairable and it could save you some money and do shop around. They're expensive tyres being runflats
