Tyre size on current/new wheels

I’ve sought advice on here about changing from RFT’s/brand etc for my current 296’s

After researching and advice from here I’d decided on 225/35/19 and 245/35/19’s for a bit of extra cushion on the rears to try and help reduce the chances of that happening.

Been watching tyre prices and was deciding between Vredestein and MPS4S’s. Was leaning towards the Vredestein but Black Circles have a deal on the Michelin which means there’s under £40 difference so Michelin it is.

Before I bought my car I’d set up an alert on SDM 0.05’s as I’d seen them on a Coupe on here and liked them.

An alert appeared earlier before I was going to purchase the tyres, they’re at a reasonable price and I still like them.

What I’m not sure of is

1. if I buy the tyres I’d proposed above and decided to buy the wheels too would they fit the new wheels as they’re 8.5F/9.5R current 8F/9R set up
2.. offsets are 35F/40R current 27F/40R would this cause any issues/would I need to do anything
3. does anyone have SDM 0.05’s on an E89 that could post a picture as I’ve only seen them on the E86 on here.

Was totally set on 296’s but these bl00dy cars make you spend money you’d never intended :headbang:

Thanks in advance

The offsets don't affect tyre sizes , if you did opt for the wider rims i would have a rethink on the above numbers , 235 35 19 & 255 35 19 is my favoured set up though others will have their own .

Thank for that Mr Wilks. Thought the current true choice might be under-tyred for the wider wheels. Was thinking I might buy the tyres then take a bit of time to decide on the wheels but that obviously won’t work.

Apologies for the offset question appearing like it related to the tyre sizes. I should maybe have made it clearer. I meant with the different offset, larger rim and possibly larger tyre would that combination cause me any issues

I have 296s on my 35i. I love them! Suit the car perfectly!
Standard sizes are 225/35/19 255/30/19.
I replaced the RFs with Uniroyal Rainsport in 235/35/19 255/35/19. Both result in slightly taller tyres to give extra protection to the wheels. The 235 fronts look spot on and the tyre rim protectors do their job properly. I wasn’t totally happy with the rears though. I’ve just replaced them with Goodyear F1 Asy which feel better than the RS3s. I went for 265/30/19 which now look perfect, also protecting the rims much better.
Now I just need to get all 4 refurbished

Thanks @lazza

I think the 296’s really suit the car too and they were something I either wanted on a car or was going to fit after purchase. My concern was their fragility but as I’ve mentioned in another post mine are from a later car so apparently slightly less prone to damage.

Anyway, I’ve eventually bitten the bullet as Black Circles have 10% off certain brands of tyres today so bought the same set up as you’ve ended up with but in Michelin MPS4S’s for £560 delivered. Pretty well on what my max budget was so I’ll give them a try.

Dry good choice of tyres!
My wheels are the originals from 2009 and have 65k miles in them so they aren’t all that bad. Only one got cracked and that was due to a pot hole 10” deep, 12” wide and 24” long. Bent and cracked in 2 places. It was straightened and welded but I have replaced it with a clean straight one from eBay. It was a rear and they are hard to find 2nd hand as it’s those that tend to have the problem. The fronts are usually fine.
