Tyre size advice.

I’m currently looking at tyres as my rears will need replacing soon, they are the standard z4 sizing of 255/30/19. When I bought the car it had Michelin super sport on the front and Falken 452 on the rear. When I change the rears I’d prefer to keep the same brand of tyre all round, I know it’s not a problem to run different brands front to rear but I’d prefer not to.

The main issue is tyre availability, if i change from 255/30/19 to 255/35/19 there is so much more choice available at the moment. I know some people have gone up a little on the sidewall for comfort reasons so is anyone else running that profile?

I have b12 suspension setup if that makes any difference.

Depending on your rim sizes you could look at 235/35 19 265/30 19 as well

255/35 19 MAY under certain circumstances cause DSC related issues like failing to detect punctures…

Mine came on the 326's which had MPS4S all round - the rears are 255/35/19 and are due for replacing but the fronts (225/35/19) are still fine .
I've had no issues at all and when I took the wheels off to check them none were cracked or had been welded - suffice to say I will be ordering the same size for replacement hopefully later this  20220826_120103.jpg

I know 255/30/19 is the size the car came with but after over a decade of rim cracking and unnecessary tramlining most of the E9x community have adopted 255/35/19 as a healthier alternative for the rears - more compliant and protects the rims more and they fit without issue. I haven't put a 30 profile on my rears for a very long time now - across E46, E92, and now two E85's.

Just my reflections, obvs.
