Hi Guys,

I have just purchased some Z4M alloys which have 255/40 18 tyres on the rear. My mate mentioned he might have some new ones that had been ordered incorrectly at work and that i could have them for cheap. The problem is, they are 255/45 18, so i am just wondering if there would be a problem if i fit these?

If it's not for an ///M then 255/40r18 is the wrong size anyway, and you should be using 255/35r18.

The difference between an OEM 255/35r18 and your mate's 255/45r18 is about 8% (which is a lot), and your sidewall will be 15mm taller than standard so may cause rubbing.

255/45 18 will almost for sure cause rubbing issues. Those tire will have an overall diameter of 27" where the car is designed for a 25" diameter tire.

Yeah it's not an ///M that i have, just a standard 3.0.

Thinking i should maybe give them a miss then, as they are currently slightly bigger than what i should have. So to confirm, i should have 255/35r 18??

I'm running 255/40 and wouldn't want to go any more than that (on a 3.0i)
