Tyre opinions wanted: Vredestein or Falken

So I was planning on getting the run flats ditched any time soone but the drivers rear has developed a slow puncture and with 3mm of tread left they are going and the front will be held back for trade in back up as they still have 5mm to go.
I loved the change from run flats to non on my Works Cooper S Mini and have no hesitation in getting shot of these run flats on the Z4C and am down to a choice of 2:
Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta or Falken's.
Never tried either before and I know the Falkens seem to be the choice option on here and are about £50 cheasper for the 4 but have heard good things about the Vred's so any opinions welcome before I'm off to the local tyre man next week.
 
never had falkens on, but have had ultracs on three cars and i love them. Putting them on the zed (3.0 with 18" staggered sports setup) has transformed the car. just bought it with bridgestone toothbreakers on I really did think I'd made a very expensive mistake. It was like driving an asda trolley over rough roads(and Sheffield / S Yorks seems to be the crap road capital of Britain). Now its sure footed, sticks to the road like a turbo charged limpet and feels so much more solid. I can actually start enjoying my driving. get sessantas you won't regret it
 
Not sure what size rims your running, but on my old Z4 2.5, I had 225 45 17 Bridgestone RE070. These are not run flats, but carry a couple of tins of tyreweld.

They are imported for Subaru's, and very sticky rubber, and transformed the car.
 
Had Contis on the family SMax 2.5 and they only lasted 9K on the front so I refuse to buy them again out of bitterness and spite :evil: . Have hadthe Michelins beofre on my previous R26 Megane and they are great but also very expensive so opted for something new this time.
 
Is it definitely worth ditching run flat tyres? Apart from the fact they are rather pricey the ride is driving me mad! The asda shopping trolley analogy was spot on lol! I also have a slow puncture on rear plus they are nearly worn out so thinking about a change. Do you just carry some tyre weld? I take it the tyre pressure sensor will still operate as it works off ABS i think? Which brands are best?

Any thoughts or experiences welcome
 
If you do a search you'll find a lot of discussion on this, the consensus being yes, it's much better without rfts. Sounds like you're due, anyway. It seems to me that how much difference it makes depends on which generation of rfts you had, the later ones being better, I read.

Most popular replacements seem to be Falkens, PS2s and F1 Asymmetrics. Hard to say which is best, though prices vary. All cheaper than rfts I'd have thought.

TPS isn't affected on UK cars, I believe.

Snap- Megane R26 was a great car but we must have grown up!
 
Yep the tyre pressure monitor will be unaffected since it works by calculating the circumference of the wheel rather the actual air pressure in the tyre.
