Tyre Codes Needed for Falkens/RFT's PLEASE! To Fit 18" Elips

Hey guys,

As you have probably noticed I am looking into changing my big standard 16" alloys to 18" ellipsoids (107s)!

I have an opportunity to purchase some elips (alloys only) but want to do some research into how much a new set of tyres is going to set me back (and hence whether I can afford the alloys!!!)..

I am toying with either taking the risk and changing to Falkens (as everyone seems to rave about them on here!) and going for the Run Flats... I know the run flats are going to cost more but still want to look at the comparison...

Can someone please provide me with the full tyre code needed for front and rear tyres for both the falkens and the RFTs (bridgstones)?

I can then do a search online to see how much it will cost me for 4 new tyres!

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Cheers,

I don't know the codes, but I can tell you that I recently bought a set of Falkens FK452's for £340 delivered online for my 108's. A set of Bridgestone RFT's were going to cost over £900 delivered online.

the falkens are falken fk-452 fronts 225/40/18 rears 255/35/18 try blackcicles.com or camskill don't even bother with the runflats the ellipsoids are the best alloys for the z4

If you get a price for 225/40 R18 91Y that should be about right. If they are staggered look at 255s for the rear... that will give you the rough price.

If it's a good deal on the wheels why not just grab those now and wait until you need to change the tyres on the 16s? Pretty much 2 RFT = 4 normal tyres (may be slightly different going from 16s to 18s).

Also, someone on here was looking for a spare set of wheels for a winter setup - so you may even get something back on your 16s!

Do as PawnSacrifice suggests and grab the wheels now if the price is right. You'll regret it if you later are ready to buy, as Ellipsiods can be rare and go for good prices

i echo what PawnSacrifice and cj10jeeper say, nab the wheels now before someone else nabs them. You wouldn't want that to happen again (sorry  :P )

Can't check tyre codes now, but as the others are saying you'll be around £350 or so for a set of the 4 tyres in staggered setup (225/40/18 and 255/35/18) plus fitting.

FK452 fitted for Ellipsoids will be about £400 all done. Someone can come to the house with a van and fit them there and then for you too iirc.

£400 is a good figure to keep in mind for the Falkens.

Ellipsoids are great looking wheels imho, well worth swapping to! Just get a few tins of large tyre foam from Halfords (£20 for a pair I think) and/or a BMW mobility kit (about £50) and you should have enough cover if you do end up with a flat tyre :)

If you don't want them can you PM me the details and I'll take them and stick them in the garage

Honestly if you can afford the wheels now take them. If you don't have garage space for them buy a couple small table cloths and use them one on top of another as a side table! :P

Ha ha... jump in my grave eh???!

Sure thing - will defo let you know the details if I decide to pass on the alloys...

I do really want them - however a couple of them may need a bit of a refurb... Is this normal for 107s? There is some slight bubbling on the inside of the alloys...

On a related note does anyone know of a cheap but good alloy refurb company in Worcestershire/West Midlands area?!

Thanks for all the help guys - you have been absolutely brilliant!!!

Most wheels need refurbing at some point so I wouldn't worry, just make sure the wheel price set accordingly! Can't make any recommendations but prices around here are £50- £60 per wheel for a one piece. Or you could have a go yourself - Ally did a very respectable job on his 108s which are more difficult... as did CJ.

had to have mine done when i brought the car a company called lepsons done mine for £50 a wheel here http://www.lepsons.com/

Hey...

Thanks for this - they aren't too far from me in fact...

What was the quality like? Are the wheels "good as new"??!

Lepsons have had good feedback, if they were near me I'd use them :)

Me not being happy with a recon ellipsoid, and having some feedback (good) on Lepsons from KDS over the road!

Good thread Dave, now I know where to consider should I need to refurb wheels. Not sure if you remember from discussions a while back that I've got a local guy who powdercoats for £150+VAT, but the extra that Lepsons charge and the difference in finish looks worth it. Luckily the wheels I bought are almost perfect so no refurb at the moment.

Thread bookmarked for future reference

Hey guys!

Just a little update for you...

My search for a new set of alloys is finally over!!!

After much deliberation and consideration I have invested in a new set of alloys...

They are devil riviera deep dish 18" alloys and I will be posting pics once I have got them fitted next sat...

I k ow they won't be to everyone's taste/liking but I think they will look great ;)

Thanks for all the advice/info - you have been great!
