Tyre choices

Hi guys fairly new to this and I am in the market for a full new set of tyres. I can get a full set of potenza bridgestones for around 450 fitted or for a similar price falken zeix or 452s. I wondered if there was a list somewhere of recommended tyres or if anyone has any information on the bridgestones as reviews are very mixed.

There isn't a list as such, but if you search you will find countless posts on the subject. As a general rule, for normal tyres ie. non max-performance PS2 etc the following are the most popular -

Goodyear Eagle F1
Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta
Falken FK452

TOYO T1R (maybe!)

How are you sourcing the bridgestones that cheaply?! I've just switched to the 452's all round last week, primarily based on the price of the bridgestones. Quotes on those ranged from £240 per tyre to £311 per tyre!
All good so far with the falkens...no tramlining, good grip etc. Only problem is the tools at the garage took no care switching the tyres and gouged one of the alloys - they have however agreed to pay for a refurb!

you don't say if you want to stay with run-flats or change...

if you want to stay, avoid the bridgestone's like the plague and change to Michelin :D

I just had a set of Kumho Ecstras put on mine, great reviews, brilliant drive and even better at £360 fitted at my local tyre centre :-)

Sorry I am going non runflats. And the reason I have got that price is it's not fitted jut ordered for me by a friend in the trade. I can get bridgestone potenzas or falken 452s For more or less the same 8) only concern from past experience 452s are rather soft so not sure how long they would last on a 3 litre z . I have no previous experience of the bridgestones though cheers for the input guys

Does Vredestein make the Ultrac Sessanta's in run flat and non run flat flavours?
Had a look at them but they come out a bit more expensive I could only find non runflats which is no bad thing lol

Having looked on the Vredestein site, the Ultrac Sessanta's are listed as summer tyres and runflats but with differing sizes, so wondered if they are one and the same or else completely diffrent types. My car came with them but I can't see anything that says runflats in the lettering on the sidewalls.

Anyone know what the diffrerent tyres' alloy wheel protectors are like... I know the 452's have none but I've just put a pair of Toyo T1-R's on my girlfriend's A3 cos they used tohave hefty alloy protectors but they seem to have shrunk since the last set and are now less than that on the Bridgestone Runflats.

Any experience of the Vred's or Hankooks out there?

did about 600 miles in the last couple of days in the Zed in various weather. Have to say the wet weather grip and traction with the Vredesteins are outstanding with no wheelspin and no aquaplaning. Had Falkens on my previous car and wet weather use was very twitchy, used to get wheelspin at 80mph if I used full throttle.
